Softball Districts Open For Bulldogs
District play begins today for the North Platte Bulldog softball team in Millard. The Bulldogs are the third seed in the A4 district, hosted by Millard West. They will take on second seed Columbus this afternoon at 12:45, with the host Wildcats taking on fourth-seed Omaha North in a game played earlier. The Bulldogs wrapped up their regular season winning eight of their last nine games to end up with a 15-15 record. They took third place in the GNAC tournament last weekend in North Platte, besting McCook and Scottsbluff before falling to Kearney in the championship game. If the Bulldogs beat the Discoverers, they will play in a semifinal game at 4:15. If they lose, they will play an elimination game at 2:30. The Bulldog softball team is looking for its first trip to the state tournament since 2004.
Bulldogs Fall To Ogallala In Three
The third time was not the charm for the North Platte Bulldog volleyball team against Ogallala last night. The Bulldogs were swept 16, 15, and 22 by the Indians at the Ogallala Auditorium for their third loss to the Indians this season. North Platte nearly rallied in the third set down 24-17, scoring five straight points to put a scare into the Indians, but Ogallala was able to close it out for the win. The Bulldogs drop to 9-12 on the season with the loss. They are at a triangular at Lincoln Northeast against the host Rockets and Lincoln Southeast on Saturday.
