Prep Football Preview, Week Nine (Panthers on Q-Country 107.3 Tonight)

The final week of the prep football regular season begins tonight with many Class C and D squads wrapping up their seasons one week ahead of the playoffs. The Hershey Panthers are hoping to enter the postseason on a high note. The Panthers take a 4-3 record on the road and hope to erase the memory of last week’s blowout loss against Cambridge as they visit Dundy County-Stratton tonight. Q-Country 107.3 FM has all the Panther football action from Benkelman tonight, with the pregame show starting at 6:30 and the kickoff set for 7. Elsewhere in Lincoln County football action tonight, Sutherland visits Cambridge, Wallace plays host to Eustis-Farnam, and Brady visits Hayes Center. The Wildcats and Eagles both need wins to get into position to earn playoff spots in Class D2.

With only two weeks left in the high school football season, some teams are pushing for a playoff berth while others just want to finish the year on a high note. The North Platte Bulldogs play their final home game of the season tonight as they host Norfolk. ESPN Radio 1410 has the action with the pregame show at 6:30 and the kickoff at 7. The Hershey Panthers hope to make a late-season statement as they play host to Cambridge in their home finale. You can hear that game on Q-Country 107.3 FM, with coverage starting at 6:30 with the pregame show and a 7 o’clock kick. The North Platte Bulldogs and Hershey Panthers each take on their biggest rivals tonight. For the Bulldogs, they hope to snap their five-game losing streak against Kearney at Foster Field. ESPN Radio 1410 has the action from Kearney tonight, with pregame coverage starting at 6:30 and the kickoff at 7. The Panthers are also trying to get back on track after losing two games in a row. They’ll travel to Sutherland tonight and face the Sailors, who are searching for their first win. Q-Country 107.3 FM is the home for Panther football tonight, with the pregame at 6:30 and a 7 o’clock kick. Elsewhere in prep football tonight, St. Pat’s heads to Cambridge for a pivotal district clash. Maxwell looks to snap their three-game skid at Hemingford. Week Six Prep Football Results

Here are the results from local action in Week Six of the prep football season:

North Star 56, North Platte 14 – Gators’ Mike Minter, son of former Husker star, rushes for over 200 yards and four touchdowns. In the first half. Gators cruise, Bulldogs drop fifth straight.

Gothenburg 14, Cozad 0 – Swedes rise up and shut out their biggest rivals on Homecoming night.

Chase County 7, Hershey 6 – A missed extra point in the final minute dooms the Panthers to a second straight loss. Hershey defense allowed no points.

8 North Platte St. Patrick’s 54, Sutherland 22 – Easy win for the Irish, their third straight, on Homecoming.

3 South Loup 73, Maxwell 8 – Bobcats running attack proves too much for the Wildcats, who lose their third in a row.

Medicine Valley 49, Brady 48 – Missed two-point conversion with three minutes left costs the Eagles, who see a three-game winning streak snapped.

Wallace 44, Wauneta-Palisade 37 – Wallace breaks a three-game losing streak with the road win.

Prep Football Preview, Week Six (Bulldogs on ESPN Radio 1410, Panthers on Q-Country 107.3)

The second half of the prep football season begins tonight with action in Week Six. The North Platte Bulldogs are hoping to halt their four-game losing streak tonight as they host Lincoln North Star. ESPN Radio 1410 will have all the action from Bauer Field at Memorial Stadium, with pregame coverage at 6:30 and the kickoff at 7.

Elsewhere, the banged-up Hershey Panthers look to rebound from last week’s loss to St. Pat’s as they head to Chase County. Q-Country 107.3 has that game for you, with the pregame show at 7 and kickoff at 7:30.

The St. Pat’s Irish host Sutherland on their homecoming night. Maxwell looks to snap their two-game losing streak at home against third-ranked South Loup. Wallace travels south to face Wauneta-Palisade. And Brady hits the road to face Medicine Valley.

Prep Volleyball Results – September 27

The North Platte Bulldog volleyball team picked up a three-sets to none victory at Lexington last night. The Bulldogs ran off a 13-point run in the first set and won it easily 25-17. They were even more dominant in the second set, winning it 25-11. The Minutemaids hung around in the third set, but the Bulldogs were able to put them away by winning the set 25-22 and completing the sweep. The win improves the Bulldogs to 7-10 on the season. They are in Columbus for a single-day tournament this Saturday.

Elsewhere, Maxwell went 1-1 at a triangular, defeating Hayes Center in three sets and falling to unbeaten Paxton in two sets. Maxwell’s record moves to 8-7.

Wallace also split a triangular at home, beating Maywood but losing to Brady. The Eagles topped Maywood in the other match.

Gothenburg lost two heartbreakers at a triangular, falling to both Perkins County and Chase County in three sets.

St. Pat’s swept Mullen in three sets.
