Prep Football Preview, Week 5 (Bulldogs on ESPN Radio 1410, Panthers on Q-Country 107.3)

District play begins in Week Five of the high school football season, and the spotlight in Lincoln County falls upon Hershey. The unbeaten Panthers (3-0) square off with ninth-ranked St. Pat’s (2-1) in one of the most anticipated games of the season. Q-Country 107.3 has all the action from Hershey, with the pregame show at 6:30 and the kickoff at 7.

The North Platte Bulldogs (1-3) return home after two straight road games to host third-ranked Lincoln Southeast (3-1). ESPN Radio 1410 has the call from Bauer Field at Memorial Stadium, with a 6:30 pregame and a 7 o’clock kick.

Elsewhere in prep gridiron action tonight…

-Sutherland (0-3) plays host to Dundy County-Stratton (0-3) in a battle of winless teams.
-Maxwell (2-1) looks to rebound from their first loss of the season as they host Garden County (3-0)
-Brady (2-1) hopes to avenge their only regular season loss from last year when they welcome Eustis-Farnam (0-3)
-Wallace (1-2) hopes to get back on the winning track hosting Medicine Valley (2-1)

Prep Football Preview, Week 4 (Bulldogs on ESPN Radio 1410, Panthers on Q-Country 107.3)

Tonight on ESPN Radio 1410, the North Platte Bulldogs face their toughest test of the 2011 season when they head to Grand Island to face the unbeaten and second-ranked Islanders. North Platte, who is 1-2 on the season, will try and show progress defensively after allowing 105 points over the last two weeks. Coverage on ESPN Radio 1410 begins with the pregame at 6:30, leading to kickoff at 7.

The Hershey Panthers look to stay unbeaten as they host 0-2 Morrill tonight. Q-Country 107.3 FM has the action from Hershey, with the pregame show at 6:30 and a 7 o’clock kickoff.

Elsewhere on the gridiron tonight…

-St. Pat’s (1-1) looks to rebound from their stunning loss to Kearney Catholic last week as they host Chase County.
-Sutherland (0-2) welcomes Perkins County to town.
-Brady (1-1) plays host to Banner County.

-Wallace (1-1) treks north to visit Sandhills/Thedford.

Prep Sports For 9-6 (Bulldogs Softball On ESPN Radio 1410)

Tonight on ESPN Radio 1410, it’s North Platte Bulldog softball. The Bulldogs are looking to turn around their 4-7 start to the 2011 season as they take on Grand Island in a doubleheader. The Islanders are ranked sixth in the Omaha World-Herald Class A poll. The first game between the Bulldogs and Islanders is set for 5 PM. ESPN Radio 1410’s coverage starts with pregame coverage at 4:45. Elsewhere in prep athletics today, the Sutherland volleyball team hosts a volleyball triangular, with Gothenburg and Southwest coming to town, as does Wallace, with Hitchcock County and Perkins County visiting. Brady’s volleyball team also plays in a home triangular as Paxton and SMC come calling, and St. Pat’s volleyball is headed to a triangular in Cambridge where they will also play Dundy County-Stratton.

Prep Football Week Two Preview (Bulldogs on ESPN Radio 1410, Panthers on Q-Country 107.3)

The North Platte Bulldogs (1-0) look to make it two straight wins to start the 2011 football season tonight as they host the Columbus Discoverers (0-1). Last season the Bulldogs fell to the Discoverers 38-19 in Columbus. ESPN Radio 1410 has all the action from Bauer Field at Memorial Stadium tonight. The Kwik Stop pregame show begins at 6:30 with the kickoff set for 7. Tonight on Q-Country 107.3 FM the Hershey Panthers (1-0) hit the road to take on Bridgeport. Coverage gets underway at 7:00 with the kickoff at 7:30 in the Panhandle. Elsewhere tonight…

-Rivals collide as Brady (0-0) hosts Maxwell (0-0) in the first game of the season for both teams.
-Gothenburg (0-1) will try and rebound from a first week loss in their home opener against Minden (1-0).
-Wallace (1-0) will try for a 2-0 start as they go on the road to take on Paxton (0-0).

Prep Volleyball Recap 9/1 – Dawgs Split, Irish Swept, More

The North Platte Bulldog volleyball team opened their season by going 1-1 in a Triangular at the Dawghouse last night. In their first game, the Bulldogs took down Sidney in two sets, 25-18 and 25-19. In the nightcap, North Platte fell to Class C1’s seventh ranked team Ogallala 18-25, 26-28. Kenzie Michaels had nine kills in the two sets to lead North Platte’s attack. The Bulldogs are back on the court tomorrow at a tournament at Lincoln North Star. In other season opening volleyball action last night, St. Pat’s was swept in three sets at home by Perkins County, Paxton took down Sutherland in three sets, Gothenburg swept past Broken Bow, and Brady only needed three sets to defeat Maxwell. Tonight, the Wallace Wildcats open their season when they head north to take on Paxton.
