Lincoln – Jack McVeigh led three Huskers in double figures with 16 points, but Nebraska dropped a 65-62 overtime decision to Ohio State on Saturday night at Pinnacle Bank Arena

Cougars Take Game Two, 13-5

Charleston, S.C. – After holding the College of Charleston scoreless in the season opener on Friday, the Huskers were unable to take the series on Saturday, as the Cougars’ offense carried them to a 13-5 win. The Huskers were only out-hit on the day 12-11, but committed four errors that earned to four un earned runs.

Charleston jumped out to a 7-0 lead through two innings, but the Huskers clawed back and were within three in the sixth, 8-5. The Cougars went on to score the game’s final five runs, including four in the seventh inning. Continue reading “Cougars Take Game Two, 13-5”

Huskers Open 2016 With 4-0 Shutout

Charleston, S.C. – For the third straight season the Nebraska baseball team opened the year with a win, as the Huskers posted a 4-0 win over the College of Charleston Cougars on Friday night at Patriots Park.

Senior Colton Howell tossed 5.0 scoreless inning in his first career start, while reliever Jeff Chesnut and Chad Luensmann each back him up with a pair of scoreless innings. Huskers Shut Out Louisville, 3-0

Raleigh, N.C. – Cassie McClure drove in three runs and Emily Lockman tossed a four-hit shutout, as the Nebraska softball team completed the Big Ten/ACC Challenge with 3-0 win over Louisville on Sunday at Dail Stadium.

The Huskers (8-1) finished with a 3-1 record in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge, helping the Big Ten win the inaugural event. Nebraska’s 8-1 start has also matched the best nine-game start in program history.  Continue reading “Huskers Shut Out Louisville, 3-0”

Lincoln – Nebraska junior outfielder Ryan Boldt was one of 50 players named to USA Baseball’s preseason Golden Spikes Award watch list on Tuesday. Boldt has already been named a preseason All-American by multiple publications and is ranked as the #13 college prospect for the 2016 MLB Draft by Baseball America.

Boldt was one of three Big Ten players named to the watch list, joining Michigan’s Carmen Benedetti and Maryland’s Mike Shawaryn. Continue reading “Boldt Named to Golden Spikes Watch List”
