Huskers Come Up Short Against No. 4 Terps

Lincoln – For the second straight year, Nebraska had a chance to tie in the final seconds against a top-10 Maryland team, but the Huskers fell just short, 70-65 to No. 4/3 (AP/Coaches) Maryland Wednesday evening in front of a crowd of 15,693 at Pinnacle Bank Arena.
Nebraska trailed 68-65 after Diamond Stone’s missed free throw with 33 seconds left and had possession. The Huskers missed a first attempt by Shavon Shields, but the ball went off Maryland, giving the Huskers another chance with 18 seconds left. NU ran a play for Andrew White III, who finished with a game high 19 points and nine rebounds, but his 3-pointer from the wing was off the mark. Coach Riley Introduces 2016 Signing Class

Lincoln – Nebraska Head Coach Mike Riley announced the Huskers’ 2016 signing class on Wednesday, a group that includes 21 scholarship players who hail from 14 states.
Riley’s second recruiting class at Nebraska features 10 players on both offense and defense and one specialist.

Huskers Dominate Penn State

Lincoln – Jessica Shepard scored 20 points, Natalie Romeo added 19 and Anya Kalenta pitched in her first career double-double off the bench as Nebraska ran to an 87-69 women’s basketball win over Penn State on Tuesday night at Pinnacle Bank Arena.

Huskers Fall at No. 21 Purdue, 89-74
West Lafayette, Ind. – Andrew White III led four Huskers in double figures, but Purdue’s inside game was too much, as the No. 21 Boilermarkers topped Nebraska, 89-74, at Mackey Arena Saturday afternoon.
A.J. Hammons led Purdue with 32 points on 14-of-17 shooting while adding 11 rebounds, five assists and four blocked shots, as the Boilermakers shot 59 percent en route to improving to 19-4 on the season and 7-3 in the Big Ten. Continue reading “Huskers Fall at No. 21 Purdue, 89-74”
Huskers Fall at Rutgers

Piscataway, N.J. – Nebraska jumped to an early lead but Rutgers outscored the Huskers 17-7 in the final six minutes to hand NU a 66-56 road loss at the RAC on Saturday afternoon.
Nebraska had its six-game winning snapped to slip to 15-6 overall and 6-4 in the Big Ten, while Rutgers ended its four-game losing streak to improve to 13-9 overall and 4-6 in the conference. Continue reading “Huskers Fall at Rutgers”
NPCC Lady Knights Basketball Team Splits on Road
Goodland, Kan. – The North Platte Community College Lady Knights basketball went on the road and split a couple of games losing to Fort Carson Army Base 75-58 and defeating the Northwest Kansas Technical College Lady Mavericks 78-75 this weekend.
In the Fort Carson game, Suhmer Mitchell led the Lady Knights with 18 points.
Against the Lady Mavericks, the Lady Mavericks outscored the Lady Knights in each of the first three quarters, 22-21. 22-20 and 19-15, but the Lady Knights outscored the Lady Mavericks 22-12 in the fourth quarter to gain the victory. NPCC Knights fall to Lamar on Road
Lamar, Colo. – The North Platte Community College Knights basketball team lost on the road to the Lamar Community College Runnin’ Lopes 79-75 in an important National Junior College Athletic Association Region IX South Sub-Region contest.
The Knights jumped out to a 14-9 lead and led at halftime 38-36.

NPCC Knights Basketball Travel to Lamar
North Platte – The North Platte Community College Knights basketball team travels to Lamar Colo. to take on the Lamar Community College Runnin’ Lopes on Friday January 29, 2016. The matchup is important in the National Junior College Athletic Association Region IX South Sub-Region standings.

NPCC Lady Knights Basketball Travels to Fort Carson and Northwest Kansas
North Platte – The North Platte Community College Lady Knights basketball team will take their three game winning streak on the road to play Fort Carson Army Base and Northwest Kansas Tech this weekend.
