Romeo Ties Three-Point Record, Shoots Huskers to Win

Lincoln – Natalie Romeo tied Nebraska’s three-point record for the second time in two weeks, knocking down eight threes to finish with 30 points and shooting the Huskers to a 75-62 women’s basketball win over Wisconsin on Wednesday at Pinnacle Bank Arena.

Nebraska notched its sixth straight Big Ten win to improve to 15-5 overall and 6-3 in the conference, while Wisconsin slipped to 6-13 and 2-7 with its fifth straight loss. Continue reading “Romeo Ties Three-Point Record, Shoots Huskers to Win”

NPCC Basketball Teams Sweep Northeastern

npcc  njcNorth Platte –  It was a good night at McDonald-Belton Gymnasium on Tuesday night as the North Platte Community College men’s and women’s basketball teams defeated the Northeastern Junior College Plainsmen.

NPCC Knights Basketball Teams to Host Northeastern Colorado

npcc njcNorth Platte – The North Platte Community College Knights men and women’s basketball teams will host the Northeastern Junior College Plainsmen on Tuesday January 26 at the McDonald-Belton Gymnasium on the South Campus of NPCC.

NPCC Knights Basketball Defeat Central

leito hollowayColumbus – The North Platte Community College Knights basketball team continued their winning ways by defeating the Central Community College Raiders 96-69.

The game was a Nebraska Community College Athletic Conference game. The Knights are 3-0 in the conference and Southeast is 0-2.

The Knights are 12-8 on the season and on a four game winning streak.

NPCC Knights Win on Road Against Southeast

npcc knightsBeatrice – The North Platte Community College Knights defeated the Southeast Community College Storm 83-55 at the Truman Center in a Nebraska Community College Athletic Conference game on Friday night.

The Knights improve to 11-8 on the season and 2-0 in the NCCAC.

At the 10 minute mark in the first half the Knights held a 15-14 lead.  The Knights outscored the Storm 24-11 to take a 39-25 halftime lead.

In the second half the Knights started the half on a 11-2 rim to extend their lead to 50-27.

The Storm did cut the lead to 15 on back to back three-pointers.

Tim Wagner led the Knights with 20 points and seven assists.  Next in scoring was Tyree Peter with 16 points.  Peter had his third consecutive double-double and eighth on the season by grabbing 19 rebounds.  Leito Holloway was the third Knight to score in double figures with 10.  Michael Mitchell had double digits in rebounding with 12 and missed having a double-double by one point finishing with nine.

The Storm are 7-9 overall and 0-2 in the NCCAC.

The Storm were led in scoring by Taylor Britt with 13 points as the lone Southeast player to reach double digits.  Kwame Brown led the Storm with six rebounds.

The Knights out rebounded the Storm 59-31.

Beatrice – The North Platte Community College Lady Knights basketball team defeated the Southeast Community College Storm 66-59 at the Truman Center in Beatrice on Friday night in a National Junior College Athletic Association Region IX Division II matchup.

Huskers Fall to Michigan, 81-68

Lincoln – Andrew White III and Glynn Watson Jr. led four Huskers in double figures with 15 points apiece, but Nebraska’s second-half rally fell short, as the Huskers fell to Michigan 81-68 Saturday afternoon at Pinnacle Bank Arena.

White scored 13 points in the second half to total 15 for the game, while Watson also contributed 15 points for the Huskers (12-9, 4-4 Big Ten). Tai Webster pitched in 12 points, five rebounds and five steals, and Shavon Shields added 11 points. Ed Morrow Jr. led the Huskers on the glass with six rebounds. Huskers Outscore Michigan in Ann Arbor

Ann Arbor, Mich. – Jessica Shepard became the first player in Nebraska women’s basketball history to record a 30-point, 20-rebound game to power the Huskers to a 93-81 win at Michigan on Sunday.

Shepard, who tied her career high with 35 points and ripped down a career-high 20 rebounds, scored 23 points and had 15 rebounds in the second half alone to carry the Big Red to their fifth straight win. NPCC Basketball Squads Travel to Southeast

npcc southeastNorth Platte – The North Platte Community College Knights men’s and women’s basketball teams travel to Beatrice to face the Southeast Community College Storm on Friday, January 22.

On the women’s side, the game is a National Junior College Athletic Association Region IX Division II and a Nebraska Community College Athletic Conference matchup.

NPCC Defeats McCook in Nail-Biter

North Platte – The North Platte Community College Knights basketball team played their third consecutive game that went down to the wire when they defeated the McCook Community College Indians 95-93 on Wednesday night at the McDonald-Belton Gymnasium.
