Chiefs move on in playoffs while Maclin remains in limbo

Kansas City Chiefs LogoKANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — The Kansas City Chiefs turned their attention to the Patriots on Sunday, where they may be without star wide receiver Jeremy Maclin for their divisional round game.

Kansas City snapped an eight-game postseason losing streak with its 30-0 victory over the Texans on Saturday. But advancing to the Chiefs’ first AFC championship game 1993 could be tough if Maclin, by far their top pass catcher, is unable to play next Saturday in New England. Shepard Powers Huskers Past Illini

Lincoln – Jessica Shepard scored 29 points and pulled down a career-high 19 rebounds to power Nebraska to a 73-57 win over Illinois on Sunday afternoon at Pinnacle Bank Arena.

Nebraska also got a strong offensive effort from senior point guard Rachel Theriot, who scored 17 points and dished out seven assists, while adding four rebounds and three steals. Natalie Romeo gave the Huskers three players in double figures with 10 points and three assists, while playing outstanding defense throughout the game. Huskers Break Through with 90-56 Win over Rutgers

Piscataway, N.J. – Behind 28 points and nine rebounds from Andrew White III, Nebraska broke into the win column for the first time in Big Ten play with a 90-56 win Saturday afternoon.

White was efficient, hitting 11-of-14 shots from the field, including 5-of-7 from the 3-point line, as Nebraska never trailed in posting its largest road win margin since a 50-13 win at Morningside College in 1920. White’s 28-point effort tied his second-highest performance of the year while his five 3-pointers matched a career high in only 24 minutes of work. NPCC Knights Basketball Defeated by Laramie County

tim wagnerThe North Platte Community College Knights basketball team travelled to Cheyenne, Wyo. and was defeated by the Laramie County Community College Golden Eagles 78-74 in a National Junior College Athletic Association Region IX South Sub-region contest.

The Knights trailed at halftime 37-31, but started the second half on a 15-3 run to take a 46-40 lead.

They continued to lead with just under 14 minutes to go 48-45.  The Golden Eagles cut the Knights lead to one 54-53 with eight minutes to play. Continue reading “NPCC Knights Basketball Defeated by Laramie County”

NPCC Knights Basketball to Travel to Laramie County

npcc lcccThe North Platte Community College Knights basketball team will travel to Cheyenne, Wyo. to face the Laramie County Community College Golden Eagles on January 8 at 8:00 pm CST.

The game is a National Junior College Athletic Association Region IX South Sub-region contest.

AUDIO: NPCC Knights Basketball Falls to Northwest Kansas Tech

leito hollowayThe North Platte Community College Knights basketball team fell to the Northwest Kansas Technical College Mavericks 85-66 Thursday night at the McDonald-Belton Gymnasium.

In the first half, the Mavericks and Knights battled back and forth with eight lead changes and three ties.  With the Knights leading 24-23 the Mavericks went on an 11-0 run in the final three minutes of the half to take a halftime lead of 34-24. Huskers Fall at No. 8 Maryland

College Park, Md. – Jasmine Cincore scored a career-high nine points and Maddie Simon added nine of her own in her return from injury, but the Nebraska women’s basketball team suffered an 89-50 loss to No. 8 Maryland at the Xfinity Center on Thursday night.

Nebraska slipped to 9-5 overall and 0-3 in the Big Ten with the loss, while the Terrapins improved to 13-2 and 2-1 in the conference. Continue reading “Huskers Fall at No. 8 Maryland”

NPCC Lady Knights Volleyball Signs Two from Colorado

npcc volleyballNorth Platte Community College Lady Knight’s Head Volleyball Coach Alexa Hopping signed the first two players of her 2016 recruiting class, they are Brooklyn Krehmeyer from Weldon, Colo and Antonya Schaffert from Otis, Colo.

Krehmeyer is a 5’ 10” outside hitter.  She played her high school volleyball for the Weldon Valley High School Warriors.  The Warriors qualified for the Colorado State Volleyball tournament during her senior season and went 23-6 on the season. AP Source: Royals, OF Alex Gordon agree to 4-year contract

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — A person familiar with the deal says All-Star outfielder Alex Gordon has agreed to a four-year contract to remain with the World Series champion Kansas City Royals.
