NPCC Lady Knights Lose to Eastern Wyoming

lady knightsThe North Platte Community College Lady Knights were defeated by the Eastern Wyoming College Lady Lancers 85-75 on Saturday afternoon.

After the Lady Knights’  Suhmer Mitchell started out the game scoring the first two points,  Katrina Terrell scored the next eight points to put the Lady Lancers ahead 8-2.  The Lady Lancers extended the lead to 18-8 and maintained that lead through the rest of the first quarter to take a 24-14 lead. Headed to Omaha! Huskers Beat Washington to Reach NCAA Semifinals

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Nebraska volleyball team will officially make the journey to Omaha for the NCAA Semifinals.

Huskers Fall in OT at No. 22 Cal

rachel theriotBerkeley, Calif. – Natalie Romeo scored 24 points and hit six three-pointers, while Rachel Theriot added her second double-double of the season with 17 points and 15 assists, but Nebraska fell 87-80 in overtime at No. 22 California on Saturday.

The Huskers, who slipped to 7-2 overall with their only other setback coming on the road at No. 1 UConn, trailed by as many as 10 points late in the first half before rallying to take leads of 72-70 and 74-72 in the final two minutes and heading to overtime tied at 74. Huskers Fall by Criteria to Rutgers, 17-16

Piscataway, N.J. – No. 4 Nebraska (7-1, 1-1 Big Ten) suffered its first loss of the season to No. 11 Rutgers, 17-16, at Rutgers Athletic Center on Saturday afternoon.

After all 10 matches, the teams were tied 16-16, but the Scarlet Knights won on total match points criteria, 51-48. NU’s loss snapped a streak of 17 straight wins, which dated back to last season. Rutgers improves to 10-2 on the season. Continue reading “Huskers Fall by Criteria to Rutgers, 17-16”

Huskers Sweep BYU to Reach Regional Final

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The fourth-seeded Nebraska volleyball team moved within one win of Omaha by sweeping 13th-seeded BYU, 26-24, 25-17, 25-23, on Friday at Memorial Coliseum.

The Huskers improved to 29-4 with the win and advanced to a regional final for the fourth straight year. Nebraska will face fifth-seeded Washington on Saturday at 3 p.m. (CT) in the NCAA regional final, with the winner advancing to the NCAA semifinals in Omaha next week. Huskers Topple Terps in Big Ten Opener, 30-9

College Park, Md. – No. 4 Nebraska (7-0, 1-0 Big Ten) opened its conference slate with a 30-9 win over Maryland at the XFINITY Center on Friday night.

Trailing the Terrapins, 6-5, after three matches, NU won six bouts in a row, including four by bonus points. No. 4 Austin Wilson began the Husker rally with a 6-1 decision over Derrick Evanovich at 165 pounds. Wilson, a senior from Hastings, Neb., improves to 7-0 this season. Huskers Hold First Bowl Practice

Lincoln – The Nebraska football team returned for its first practice in preparation for its Dec. 26 Foster Farms Bowl game against UCLA, practicing for two hours in the Hawks Championship Center on Friday in helmets and shoulder pads. NPCC Knights Lose to WNCC on Road

mike amiusThe North Platte Community College Knights basketball team lost on the road to National Junior College Athletic Association Region IX South Sub-Region opponent Western Nebraska Community College Cougars 84-77 at the Cougar Palace on Friday Night.

The Knights jumped out to a 24-14 lead with 10 minutes to go in the first half and increased the lead to 12, 32-20 with four minutes to go in the half.  The Cougars cut away at the lead and trailed  only 36-31 at halftime. Continue reading “NPCC Knights Lose to WNCC on Road”

NPCC Lady Knights Defeat York JV

sarah mahrThe North Platte Community College Lady Knights basketball team defeated the York College Junior Varsity Lady Panthers on Friday Night 77-60 at the McDonald-Belton Gymnasium.

The win was the 200th win for Lady Knight’s Head Coach Richard Thurin at North Platte Community College.

The Lady Knights came out and jumped to an 11-3 lead. Mickenzie Brennan scored all of her eight points in the first half on three field goals, including two three-pointers. Continue reading “NPCC Lady Knights Defeat York JV”
