New York City – Tai Webster’s 18 point led five Huskers in double figures, as Nebraska shot 60 percent in the second half to post an 82-71 win over Tennessee in the third-place game of the Barclays Center Classic.

Webster, who earned all-tournament honors after averaging 19.5 points and 5.0 rebounds per game in Brooklyn, led a balanced attack for Nebraska, which improved to 5-2 on the season with the win. Continue reading “Huskers Top Vols, 82-71”

Huskers Win Both Duals in Grapple at the Garden

New York, N.Y. – The No. 5 Nebraska wrestling team (6-0) defeated No. 7 Cornell and Princeton in the Grapple at the Garden (Madison Square Garden) on Sunday.

The Huskers opened the day with a 21-14 triumph over Cornell. No. 13 Anthony Abidin (141) and No. 5 Jake Sueflohn (149) provided bonus points in helping NU build an 18-4 lead after six bouts. Theriot Leads Huskers at No. 1 UCon

Hartford, Conn. – Rachel Theriot led three Huskers in double figures with 12 points, but No. 1 UConn cruised to an 88-46 win over the Nebraska women’s basketball team at the XL Center on Saturday afternoon.

Huskers Drop Regular-Season Finale, 28-20

Lincoln – The Nebraska football team (5-7, 3-5) dropped its final game of the 2015 regular season on Friday afternoon with a 28-20 loss to the No. 3 Iowa Hawkeyes. The Hawkeyes improved to 12-0 on the year with the win, marking their first undefeated regular season since 1922.

Broncos bring in Christian Ponder to add depth at QB

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) — With Peyton Manning out until at least mid-December, the Denver Broncos have bolstered their depth at quarterback by signing Christian Ponder.

The former Minnesota Vikings first-rounder will serve as the Broncos’ third QB behind starter Brock Osweiler and Trevor Siemian.

No charges after assault allegation tied to Huskers’ home

lincoln-policeLINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — Prosecutors have decided not to charge anyone in connection with an alleged rape at the home of Nebraska quarterback Tommy Armstrong and receiver Jordan Westerkamp earlier this month.

Nebraska tightening security for Friday game against Iowa

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — The University of Nebraska-Lincoln is adjusting its security measures at Memorial Stadium for the football game against Iowa on Friday.

Officials are asking fans to arrive early to expedite entry before the 2:30 p.m. kickoff. Gates open at 1 p.m.

Some gates will not be available for entry. Gates 6 and 8 will be closed, while Gates 1, 17, 18, 19, 21 and 22 will close at kickoff. Manning’s absence extended as he’s fitted with walking boot

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) — Peyton Manning will miss at least the next two weeks after consulting with a foot specialist who put him in a walking boot.

Manning sought a second opinion from renowned foot and ankle specialist Dr. Robert Anderson in North Carolina on Monday.

Griffin, Jordan each score 18, Clippers beat Nuggets 111-94

Denver_NuggetsDENVER (AP) — Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan each scored 18 points and the Los Angeles Clippers beat the Denver Nuggets 111-94 on Tuesday night to snap a three-game losing streak.

Huskers Down Golden Lions for Third Straight Win

Andrew White III and Shavon Shields combined for 31 points and 10 rebounds, as Nebraska improved to 4-1 on the season with a 67-44 win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff Tuesday night at Pinnacle Bank Arena

On a night where all 14 Huskers who dressed played, NU held UAPB to just 30.6 percent shooting and out-rebounded the Golden Lions, 50-33.
