Romeo, Shepard Lead Huskers in Record-Setting Win

Lincoln – Natalie Romeo and Jessica Shepard both produced record performances for a season opener, as the Nebraska women’s basketball team rolled to a 96-46 win over Arkansas Pine Bluff on Saturday at Pinnacle Bank Arena.

Romeo, a 5-7 sophomore from Martinez, Calif., produced a Nebraska season-opening record 30 points, while adding four assists in just 26 minutes to lead the Big Red. Huskers Sweep Northeast Duals

Troy, N.Y. – The No. 10 Nebraska wrestling team (3-0) opened its dual season in dominating fashion with wins over Lock Haven, No. 20 Oregon State and No. 7 Lehigh in the Journeymen/Asics Northeast Duals at Hudson Valley Community College on Sunday.

Huskers Top Maryland, 3-1, To End Road Swing

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The No. 8 Nebraska volleyball team finished its four-match road stretch with a 3-1 (25-21, 23-25, 25-21, 25-18) win over Maryland at XFINITY Center Pavillion on Saturday night.

NPCC Knights Basketball Defeats Hastings JV

The North Platte Community College Knights basketball team defeated the Hastings College Broncos Junior Varsity 92-64 Saturday afternoon at the McDonald-Belton Gymnasium.

The Knights led throughout the game. The last tie was at six with 17:23 to play in the first half.  After that the Knights controlled the game.  In the first half, the Knights led by 27-13 for their largest lead of the half.  The Broncos did cut into the Knights lead to pull within seven at halftime 43-36. NPCC Lady Knights Basketball Defeats Colby

The North Platte Community College Lady Knights basketball team defeated the Colby Community College Lady Trojans 46-36 Saturday afternoon at the McDonald-Belton Gymnasium.

The game was a low scoring affair with the Lady Knights jumping out to a 13-1 lead at the end of the first quarter.  The Lady Trojans only made two field goals out of 25 attempts for eight percent in the first half.  One of the field goals was costly to the Lady Trojans when their leading scorer and rebounder on the season, Tanaka Gapare, suffered an apparent knee injury.  Continue reading “NPCC Lady Knights Basketball Defeats Colby”

Nebraska Looks to Continue Momentum at Rutgers

Lincoln, Neb.- The Nebraska football team practiced for a little more than an hour without pads in the Hawks Championship Center on Thursday in preparation for Saturday’s game against Rutgers.

Coach Riley started by adressing the media with injury updates. Running Terrell Newby will travel along with receivers Stanley Morgan Jr. and Alonzo Moore and Riley expects all three will be ready to go.

Riley also commented on the status of a couple Blackshirt defenders.

“We hope we can get 15 to 20 plays out of Kevin Williams and  Michael Rose-Ivey.” Riley said.

Huskers Ink Top-100 Recruit; Isaiah Roby

Lincoln – Nebraska men’s basketball coach Tim Miles announced Thursday that Isaiah Roby (Dixon, Ill.) has signed a National Letter-of-Intent to attend the University of Nebraska and play basketball for the Huskers beginning in the 2016-17 season. Roby is the second player in this year’s signing class and joins Jeriah Horne, who signed his NLI on Wednesday, Roby’s signing gives Miles a pair of recruits among the nation’s top 150 by Rivals.com. NPCC Knights to Host Hastings JV

npcc hastingsThe North Platte Community College Knights will host the Hastings College Junior Varsity on Saturday at 3 pm at the McDonald-Belton Gymnasium.

The Knights, 3-1 on the seasons have three players averaging in double figures led by Diontae Champion at 17.3 points per game.  Tim Wagner is averaging 14.3 points per game and Tyree Peter is averaging 10.8 points per game.  Peter is just shy of averaging a double-double by averaging 9.3 rebounds per game.

The Knights are averaging 88 points a game and are allowing 66.8 points per game.
