Huskers Get Ready for the Spartans

Lincoln, Neb.- The Nebraska football team practiced for a little more than an hour without pads in the Hawks Championship Center on Thursday in preparation for Saturday’s game against Michigan State.

Coach Mike Riley started off by talking about current injuries going into Saturday. He mentioned that Tommy Armstrong Jr. has been practicing all week and is expected to return to the field. Other players that are expected back include Nick Gates and Chris Weber, and Riley said a final determination on receivers Brandon Reilly and Alonzo Moore and running back Terrell Newby will be made on Friday. Daniel Davie, Kevin Williams and Michael Rose-Ivey could all contribute on a limited basis.

NPCC Lady Knights Travel to Norfolk to Play in Hawks Classic

npccThe North Platte Community College Lady Knights travel to Norfolk to play in the Hawks Classic on November 6-7.

The Lady Knights will face the Des Moines Area Community College Lady Bears on Friday, November 6 at 2 pm and the Iowa Lakes Community College Lakers on Saturday November 7 at noon.

Weber Named to Academic All-District Team

Nebraska sophomore linebacker Chris Weber was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District 7 football team Thursday afternoon. With his selection to the all-district team, Weber advances to the national ballot for the CoSIDA Academic All-America team.

Weber carries a 3.97 grade-point average in nutrition science and has been a key performer for the Nebraska defense this season. Weber was an Academic All-Big Ten choice as a redshirt freshman in 2014, and a four-time Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll selection. Continue reading “Weber Named to Academic All-District Team”

Lesiak bounces back, leads the region

Sometimes you have to fall to realize what you’re made of.

That proved true this year for Ethan Lesiak, a bull rider on the Mid-Plains Community College Rodeo Team. He’s currently leading the bull riding in the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association’s Great Plains Region and is third in the national standings.

“It feels good-especially after last year,” said Lesiak. “I had a horrible year last year. I won a rodeo at Hastings, but I think that was the only one I rode at. I was in a slump, but now I’m back where I need to be and where I want to be.” Continue reading “Lesiak bounces back, leads the region”

Huskers Shut Down No. 16 Purdue

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The eighth-ranked Nebraska volleyball team held the Big Ten’s top hitting team in check, as the Huskers swept No. 16 Purdue 30-28, 25-20, 25-17 on Wednesday night before a crowd of 2,279 at Holloway Gymnasium.

The Huskers (19-4, 10-3 Big Ten) trailed for just seven rallies in the entire match as they snapped Purdue’s 15-match home win streak dating back to last season. Continue reading “Huskers Shut Down No. 16 Purdue”

AUDIO: Lady Bulldog Volleyball back to State after capturing A2 District Championship

nphs boneyardThe North Platte Lady Bulldogs (35-3) are headed to the Class A state volleyball tournament for the second consecutive season following the A2 District , Championship. North Platte defeated Lincoln High 25-7, 25-5, 25-5 in the opening match and secured the district title with a 25-10, 25-13, 25-16 victory over Omaha Westside.

Huskers Gearing Up for Spartans

Lincoln, Neb. – The Husker football team continued preparations for Saturday’s game against Michigan State with a practice that lasted approximately 90 minutes in Memorial Stadium on Tuesday afternoon.

Offensive Coordinator Danny Langsdorf sang praises of the Spartans’ defensive line as he prepares the offense for it.

“Their line is really good, best we’ve faced.” said Langsdorf. “That’s going to be the best front four we’ve seen probably since BYU. I think the biggest thing will be blocking their front four.” Continue reading “Huskers Gearing Up for Spartans”

AUDIO: NPCC Knights Fall to Dodge City on the Road

NPCC Knights LogoThe North Platte Community College Knights Basketball team lost to the Dodge City Community College Conquistadors 75-61 on Tuesday night on the road.

The Knights kept it close in the first half, only trailing by two 29-27 at the break.

Knights Head Coach Kevin O’Connor said, “We did some good things in the first half to take the lead.”

Huskers Set Sights on Undefeated Spartans

Lincoln, Neb. — The Nebraska football team practiced on Tom Osborne Field in Memorial Stadium for just under 90 minutes in sweats Monday night.

Defensive Coordinator Mark Banker spoke to the media following practice highlighting some key contributors that, despite the loss, stepped up during the Purdue game, including true freshman safety Aaron Williams.
