Royals rally on Murphy’s error, beat Mets, lead Series 3-1

kc-royalsNEW YORK (AP) — The Kansas City Royals rallied for three runs in the eighth inning after second baseman Daniel Murphy’s error and startled the New York Mets 5-3 Saturday night for a 3-1 lead in the World Series.

Wright, Granderson HR, Mets beat Royals, trail 2-1 in Series

kc-royalsNEW YORK (AP) — David Wright and Curtis Granderson homered, rookie Noah Syndergaard pitched six effective innings and the New York Mets roughed up the Kansas City Royals 9-3 Friday night, cutting their World Series deficit to 2-1.

NPCC Lady Knights Basketball Opens Season at Hampton Inn Classic

hampton inn classicThe North Platte Community College Lady Knights Basketball team open the 2015-16 season this weekend at the Hampton Inn Classic at the McDonald-Belton Gymnasium on the South Campus of North Platte Community College.

On Saturday, October 31, the Lady Knights will play Midland University Junior Varsity at 7:30 pm.  Prior to the Lady Knights game at 5:30, Air Force Prep will play Eastern Wyoming College.

No Armstrong, Fyfe to start at Purdue

Lincoln, Neb.- The Nebraska football team practiced for a little more than an hour without pads in the Hawks Championship Center on Thursday in preparation for Saturday’s game against Purdue.

Coach Riley updated the media on current injuries. He began with players who will be returning to the field Saturday. The list of players included Nick Gates, Chris Weber, Kevin Maurice and Boaz Joseph. Players who will not be playing this week include Michael Rose-Ivey, Luke Gifford, Kevin Williams, Byerson Cockrell, David Knevel and quarterback Tommy Armstrong Jr.

Cueto’s 2-hitter sends Royals over Mets for 2-0 Series lead

kc-royalsKANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Johnny Cueto pitched a two-hitter, Eric Hosmer drove in two more runs and the Kansas City Royals beat the New York Mets 7-1 Wednesday night to take a 2-0 lead in the World Series.

Gallinari’s 23 points leads Nuggets over Rockets 105-85

Denver_NuggetsHOUSTON — Danilo Gallinari scored 23 points and the Denver Nuggets never trailed in a 105-85 victory over the Houston Rockets on Wednesday night in the season opener for both teams.

NPCC to Host Region IX Division II Volleyball Tournament

npcc region ixNorth Platte Community College will be the site of the National Junior College Athletic Association Region IX Division II Volleyball Tournament on October 30 – November 1.

The teams involved and the seedings are the Central Community College Lady raiders, who are seeded number one; the North Platte Community College Lady Knights, seeded number two; and Southeast Community College Lady Storm, seeded number three.
