Back home, Blue Jays break out to beat Royals 11-8 in Game 3

kc-royalsTORONTO (AP) — Troy Tulowitzki and Josh Donaldson each homered in a six-run third inning, and Toronto’s bats broke out at home for an 11-8 victory over the Kansas City Royals on Monday night that trimmed the Blue Jays’ deficit to 2-1 in the AL Championship Series.

Broncos dodge major injuries to Ray, Sanders

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) — Coach Gary Kubiak says the Broncos dodged major injuries to first-round draft pick Shane Ray and star wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders in their 26-23 overtime win at Cleveland.

Ray has a sprained right MCL and is expected to miss a few weeks. Sanders has a bruised left shoulder but should be back for the showdown against Green Bay on Nov. 1 following both club’s bye week, Kubiak said Monday. Continue reading “Broncos dodge major injuries to Ray, Sanders”

Manning shakes off interceptions, Broncos beat Browns 26-23

DenverBroncosCLEVELAND (AP) — Peyton Manning shook off three interceptions and drove Denver in range for Brandon McManus’ 34-yard field goal with 4:56 left in overtime, giving the unbeaten Broncos a 26-23 win over the Cleveland Browns on Sunday.

Vikings hold on for ugly 16-10 win vs Chiefs

Kansas City Chiefs LogoMINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Minnesota’s defense and rookie wide receiver Stefon Diggs bailed out Teddy Bridgewater for an erratic performance, and the Vikings held on to beat the mistake-prone Kansas City Chiefs 16-10 on Sunday.

Huskers Roll on Road, 48-25

Minneapolis – No late comeback. No late drama. No problem. Nebraska and tens of thousands of Husker fans at TCF Bank Stadium in Minneapolis announced their presence with authority and poured it on for four quarters in a 48-25 Nebraska football victory over the Golden Gophers on Saturday.

The Huskers, who notched their first Big Ten Conference victory under Coach Mike Riley, improved to 3-4 on the season and 1-2 in the Big Ten, by jumping to a 17-7 lead, then scoring 21 unanswered points after Minnesota trimmed the margin to 17-14 late in the second quarter. Champaign, Ill. – The No. 3 Nebraska volleyball team finished a perfect weekend in Illinois with a sweep of the No. 16 Fighting Illini (25-22, 25-18, 25-19) at Huff Hall on Saturday night.

The Huskers improve to 16-2 on the season. NU, now 7-1 in Big Ten play, has won 13 of its last 14 matches. The Fighting Illini dropped to 12-7 overall and 3-5 in the Big Ten. Illinois has lost five of its last six matches. Continue reading “Huskers Top Illini, Complete Road Weekend Sweep”
