Jeriah Horne2016 Kansas City (Mo.) Barstow HS power forward Jeriah Horne announced his commitment to the Huskers on Thursday. A three-star prospect, Horne is ranked as the No. 129 player in the 2016 class by Rivals. The 6-foot-6, 220 pound forward averaged nearly 21 points and 10 rebounds per game his junior season at Barstow High School. Huskers Prepare to Take On the Fighting Illini

Lincoln, Neb.- The Nebraska football team practiced for less than 90 minutes without pads at Memorial Stadium on Thursday in preparation for Saturday’s game against Illinois.

After practice Coach Riley addressed the media about current injuries. On the subject of De’Mornay Pierson-El, Riley said “De’Mornay has been practicing and will travel and we will work him back into this thing.” Riley also mentioned, “Jack (Gangwish) has been practicing and I anticipate him playing in the game.”

 Riley also indicated that defensive tackle Kevin Williams is out of Saturday’s game and defensive tackle Vincent Valentine is “very doubtful”. Riley also said linebacker Josh Banderas is doubtful for the matchup with the Illini.

Start Time Adjusted for NU-Illinois Football Game

Rosemont, Ill. – The impending weather impact of Hurricane Joaquin has adjusted a pair of start times for Big Ten games on Saturday.

The Michigan at Maryland game in College Park has been moved from 7 p.m. (central) to 11 a.m. (central) on BTN, while Nebraska’s game with Illinois, which was scheduled to kick off at 2:42 p.m. (central), will now kick off at 3:02 p.m.  The kickoff time was delayed 20 minutes to accommodate any potential weather-related delays in earlier games on Saturday.  Continue reading “Start Time Adjusted for NU-Illinois Football Game”

Anderson leads Diamondbacks to 3-1 win over Rockies

colorado-rockiesPHOENIX (AP) — Chase Anderson pitched effectively into the sixth inning in a combined five-hitter and the Arizona Diamondbacks scratched out a 3-1 win over the Colorado Rockies on Wednesday night.

Hosmer, Royals beat White Sox 5-3 in 10 innings

kc-royalsCHICAGO (AP) — Eric Hosmer hit a go-ahead two-run homer in the top of the 10th inning, and the Kansas City Royals beat the Chicago White Sox 5-3 on Wednesday night to clinch home-field advantage in an AL Division Series.

Chiefs get Sean Smith back, lose Phillip Gaines to torn ACL

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — The Chiefs got Sean Smith back from his three-game suspension on Wednesday, the same day they found out that fellow cornerback Phillip Gaines will miss the rest of the season with a torn ACL.
