Lincoln, Neb.- The Nebraska football team completed another practice in preparation for its Saturday game against Southern Mississippi on Tuesday. The Huskers were split into two groups—offense and defense during practice, as thunderstorms forced the offense inside Cook Pavilion, while the defense practiced inside the Hawks Championship Center. The rankings are based on a formula that includes ratings from the Omaha World-Herald and Lincoln Journal Star plus experts for each class. Class A: Dale Miller, Grand Island Independent. Nebraska high schools may soon allow transgender athletes

NSAA logoLINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — The group that governs Nebraska high school sports is drafting a policy on allowing transgender athletes to compete because there has been some interest in it.

The Nebraska School Activities Association’s board has asked staff to draft rules for transgender athletes.

NU Defense Prepares for Talented Southern Miss

The Nebraska football team practiced in helmets for just over 90 minutes on Monday afternoon. The offense practiced outside on the Ed and Joyanne Gass Practice field, while the defense worked inside of the Hawks Center.

MPCC represented well at hometown rodeo

Kanoa Awai-Dickson, of Kula, Hawaii and Kaile Jacobson, of Haiku, Hawaii, compete in the team roping during the 2015 Rail Town U.S.A. College Rodeo on Friday afternoon at the Wild West Arena. Both are members of the Mid-Plains Community College Rodeo Team.

It was a fantastic weekend for members of the Mid-Plains Community College Rodeo Team. They finished second as a team during the 2015 Rail Town U.S.A. College Rodeo, Sept. 18-19 in North Platte.

Individually, Shane Weber, of Burwell, won the saddle bronc riding, and Duell Puttergill, of Tryon, finished third in the event.

Kadie Rolfzen, Foecke Pick Up B1G Weekly Honors

Kadie Rolfzen was named Big Ten Co-Defensive Player of the Week and Mikaela Foecke was named Co-Freshman of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday.

Rolfzen, a two-time AVCA All-American, earned the first defensive award of her career after notching 3.14 digs and 1.57 blocks per set last week in wins at Creighton and at Iowa State. Storm opens season at home, Friday at 7:30

Kearney, NE – The Tri-City Storm prepares for its regular-season opener after finishing the 2015 preseason with a 3-1-0 record, tied for the most wins of any Western Division team.
