Listings include name of school, season record, previous week’s ranking, previous week’s result and this week’s opponent. The rankings are based on a formula that includes ratings from the Omaha World-Herald and Lincoln Journal Star plus experts for each class. Class A: Dale Miller, Grand Island Independent. Class B: Jeff Fielder, Scottsbluff Star-Herald. Class C1: Tom Behmer, Norfolk Daily News. Class C2: Brent Wasinius, Fremont Tribune. Class D1: Andrew Bottrell, North Platte Telegraph. Huskers Begin Preparations for Miami

The Nebraska football team practiced for just over 90 minutes in half pads on Monday afternoon in preparation for its upcoming game against Miami.  The defense practiced outside on the Ed and Joyanne Gass Practice Field, while the offense practiced in Memorial Stadium.

Carrasco, Chisenhall lead Indians past Royals for 8-3 win

kc-royalsCLEVELAND (AP) — Carlos Carrasco overcame a home run on his first pitch of the game to throw six strong innings, and Lonnie Chisenhall drove in three runs as the Cleveland Indians beat the Kansas City Royals 8-3 on Monday night.

VIDEO: Huskers snag commitment from 3-star California WR

Derrion Grim, a 3-star wide receiver prospect, from McNair HS in Stockton, California has announced his commitment to Nebraska for 2016. Grim was previously committed to Boise State but decided to switch his commitment after a visit to Lincoln for the South Alabama game.

Nebraska’s Terrell Newby Big Ten co-offensive player of week

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — Nebraska I-back Terrell Newby is the Big Ten’s co-offensive player of the week.

Davis his 42nd homer, O’s beat Royals 8-2

kc-royalsBALTIMORE (AP) — Chris Davis hit his league-leading 42nd home run, Jonathan Schoop added a pair of solo shots and the Baltimore Orioles took the three-game series against the Kansas City Royals with an 8-2 victory Sunday night.
