AUDIO: NPCC Lady Knights Volleyball Win One at Pizza Hut Invite

npcc volleyballThe North Platte Community College Lady Knights volleyball team went 1-3 this weekend at the Pizza Hut Invitational.

In the first game on Friday, the Lady Knights lost to Sheridan College in three sets 25-16, 25-15, 25-12.

The second game on Friday saw the Lady Knights fall in three to Trinidad State Junior College 25-17, 25-15, 25-22.  The Lady Knights were led in kills by MaKenna Ketter with eight kills Josie Palmer and Valerie Most each added six kills.  Shelby Wolever had 25 set assists and Megan Chintala had 26 digs. Woodhead scores two TD’s in season opening win for Chargers

SAN DIEGO (AP) — Philip Rivers rallied San Diego to 30 straight points, including throwing a go-ahead, 13-yard touchdown pass to tight end Ladarius Green early in the fourth quarter, and the Chargers stunned the Detroit Lions 33-28 in what could be their final home opener at Qualcomm Stadium.

AUDIO: North Platte volleyball dominates Bulldog Triangular

North Platte VolleyballThe North Platte (10-1) volleyball team rolled past Gering (4-5) and Alliance (1-3) in the Bulldog Triangular in Gering on Saturday. North Platte won their opening match against Gering in two straight sets 25-19, 25-14. In their second match North Platte defeated Alliance 25-9, 25-8 in two straight sets as well.

Smith’s 3 touchdown passes lead Chiefs over Texans, 27-20

Kansas City Chiefs LogoHOUSTON (AP) — Alex Smith threw for 243 yards and three touchdowns in the first half as the Kansas City Chiefs built a big lead and held on for a 27-20 victory over the mistake-prone Houston Texans on Sunday.

Huskers Sweep Georgia Tech, Ameritas Title

Lincoln – The fifth-ranked Nebraska volleyball team wrapped up its third straight sweep at the Ameritas Players Challenge with a 25-13, 25-15, 25-21 win over Georgia Tech on Saturday afternoon at the Bob Devaney Sports Center.

Balanced Big Red Blows Past Jaguars

Lincoln – Nebraska used a balanced offense and a stingy defense to put together four solid quarters of football in a 48-9 victory over South Alabama on Saturday night.

Junior I-back Terrell Newby, junior quarterback Tommy Armstrong Jr., and junior receivers Lane Hovey, Brandon Reilly, Alonzo Moore and Jordan Westerkamp all put on a show for the 89,922 red-clan fans on hand for the 342nd consecutive sellout at Memorial Stadium. Moustakas has team-record 9 RBIs as Royals beat Orioles 14-6

kc-royalsBALTIMORE (AP) — Mike Moustakas hit two home runs, including a grand slam, and finished with a franchise-record nine RBIs as the Kansas City Royals beat the Baltimore Orioles 14-6 Saturday.

AUDIO: Bulldogs defense plays tough in 20-7 loss at Kearney

North Platte FootballNorth Platte (2-1) suffered their first loss of the 2015 season on the road at Kearney (2-1) on Friday night. The defense played tough in the 20-7 loss, but a pair of late scores to end the first half proved to be the difference.
