Huskers Approach South Alabama Match-Up

Lincoln, Neb. – The Nebraska football team practiced for about 90 minutes without pads at the Hawks Championship Center on Thursday in preparation for Saturday’s game against South Alabama.

Head Coach Mike Riley spoke to the media after practice and confirmed that Freedom Akinmoladun will start at defensive end in place of the injured Jack Gangwish.

“Ross Dzuris will play for sure,” Riley said. “And then we’re looking at a couple other options there. We’re getting some guys ready. We probably won’t have quite the rotation we did last week.”

AUDIO: Lady Bulldogs sweep GI Northwest in home opener

North Platte VolleyballNorth Platte Lady Bulldogs improved to 8-1 with a three-set sweep of Grand Island Northwest (6-1) in front of a raucous crowd at the Dawg House on Thursday night.  The Lady Bulldogs won the first set 25-15, the second set 25-19 and finished off the sweep 25-22. Allison Kuenle led the team with 20 kills, while fellow senior Alex Neff dished out 48 assists in the win. North Platte will face Gering and Alliance in Gering on Saturday starting at 1 pm. NPCC Lady Knights to Compete in Pizza Hut Invite

pizza hut inviteThe North Platte Community College Lady Knights volleyball team will travel to Sterling, Colo. this weekend to participate in the Pizza Hut Invitational, hosted by Northeastern Junior College.  The tournament will take place on September 11-12.

The Lady Knights are 6-6 on the season.  They are led in kills by Valerie Most with 117 kills and MaKenna Ketter with 107.   Shelby Wolever and Aryn Meisinger lead the team in set assists with 154 and 139 respectively. Jessica Lovitt and Samantha Morgan share the team lead in blocks with 31 each.  Megan Chintala leads the team in digs with 161. Sano’s homer sends Twins past Royals 3-2 in 12 innings

kc-royalsKANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Pinch-hitter Miguel Sano homered with two outs in the 12th inning, and the Minnesota Twins beat the AL Central-leading Kansas City Royals 3-2 on Wednesday night.

Huskers Add Central Michigan to Future Schedule

The University of Nebraska has added Central Michigan to the 2020 non-conference football schedule.  The Nebraska Athletics Department announced the latest addition to the Huskers’ future non-conference schedule on Wednesday.

The Chippewas will visit Lincoln on Saturday, Sept. 19, 2020. The game will mark the first-ever meeting between the two schools. The contest is the second scheduled non-conference game for Nebraska in 2020. The Huskers are scheduled to take on Cincinnati at Memorial Stadium on Sept. 12, 2020. AUDIO: Grand Island sweeps Lady Bulldogs softball

North Platte SoftballNorth Platte (7-10) lost both games of a doubleheader at Grand Island (13-3) on Tuesday night. Game one ended in six innings, 10-2, after a five run sixth inning by Grand Island. The Lady Bulldogs fell behind 5-0 before cutting the deficit to 5-2 going into the bottom of the 6th inning. Taylar Coleman had an RBI single and Hallie Morales hit a solo home run in game one for North Platte.
