2 starters among 5 Huskers suspended for opener against BYU
LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — Starting linebacker Michael Rose-Ivey and co-No. 1 cornerback Jonathan Rose are among five Nebraska players suspended for Saturday’s opener against BYU.

Huskers Close in on Gameday

Lincoln, Neb.- The Nebraska football team wrapped-up another practice in preparation for their season opening game this Saturday versus BYU on Thursday. The Huskers practiced inside the Hawks Championship Center for around two hours without helmets or shoulder pads.

Gonzalez hits 2 HRs again as Rockies rout Giants 11-3
DENVER (AP) — Carlos Gonzalez homered twice for the second straight night, Chris Rusin pitched a complete game and the Colorado Rockies routed the reeling San Francisco Giants 11-3 on Thursday night.

NPCC Lady Knights Volleyball Loses to Hastings JV

The North Platte Community College Lady Knights fell in four sets at McDonald-Belton Gymnasium to the Hastings College Junior Varsity Lady Broncos three sets to one, 25-13, 25-12, 22-25, 25-20.

Gonzalez has 2 HRs, 7 RBIs as Rockies beat D-backs, 9-4
DENVER (AP) — Carlos Gonzalez homered twice, including a grand slam, and finished with a career-high seven RBIs to give the Colorado Rockies a 9-4 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Wednesday night.

Ventura dazzles, Royals offense rolls in 12-1 rout of Tigers
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Yordano Ventura struck out 11 over seven sharp innings, the Royals hit four home runs and Kansas City rolled to a 12-1 victory over the Detroit Tigers on Wednesday night.

Woman sues Oregon State University over 1999 sexual assault

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — A woman who says she was raped while attending Oregon State University seeks $7.5 million in a federal lawsuit against the school and its former football coach, Mike Riley.
The woman says the university and Riley failed to address a sexually violent culture among the football team that contributed to her being attacked by a player’s cousin.
