kc-royalsST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) — Mike Moustakas had three hits and three RBIs, Kendrys Morales kept up his torrid two-out hitting and the AL Central-leading Kansas City Royals beat the Tampa Bay Rays 6-3 on Saturday night.

Ramirez homers, Pirates stay hot in 4-3 win over Rockies

colorado-rockiesPITTSBURGH (AP) — A resurgent J.A. Happ worked into the sixth inning, Aramis Ramirez hit a three-run homer and the Pittsburgh Pirates held off the Colorado Rockies 4-3 on Saturday night.

Royals LF Alex Gordon close to return from groin injury

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) — Kansas City manager Ned Yost says left fielder Alex Gordon is “getting close” to rejoining the AL Central-leading Royals after missing almost two months with a strained left groin.

Huskers Enter Game Week

Lincoln, Neb.- The Nebraska football team was back at it Saturday afternoon as the Huskers practiced inside Memorial Stadium for just under two hours. NU practiced in half pads, or helmets and shoulder pads, using most of Saturday’s practice as a walkthrough for their season opening game against BYU next Saturday.

Efficient Huskers Roll Past Grand Canyon

Lincoln – The fifth-ranked Nebraska volleyball team swept Grand Canyon (25-21, 25-8, 25-11) in the first of its two matches on Saturday at the Nebraska Invitational.

The Huskers improved to 2-0 for the first time since 2012, while Grand Canyon fell to 0-2. jessica lovitt mckenna ketterThe North Platte Community College finished the McCook Invitational tournament 5-0, winning two matches on Saturday.  They defeated the Eastern Wyoming College Lady Lancer in three sets 27-25, 26-24, 25-20, and then defeated McCook Community College 25-23 ,25-18, 25-20. Lincoln – The No. 5 Nebraska volleyball team began the 2015 season with a 25-22, 25-14, 25-16 sweep of Tulsa at the Nebraska Invite at the Bob Devaney Sports Center on Friday night before 8,028 fans.

Annika Albrecht led the Huskers with a double-double in her first career start. The sophomore had a career-high 10 kills and 11 digs. Huskers Down CMU in Double-Overtime Thriller

Lincoln, Neb.–The Nebraska soccer team put forth a valiant group effort to overtake Central Michigan 4-3 in double-overtime at Barbara Hibner Field on Friday night.

The Huskers opened up the first half in style, showing dominant possession of the ball throughout. Redshirt freshman Lia Baldo got things rolling for the Big Red in the 18th minute, kicking in a shot from just outside the box off of an assist from junior Courtney Claasssen to take the lead 1-0. AUDIO: Bulldogs roll past Columbus 38-7 in season opener

North Platte FootballThe North Platte Bulldogs jumped on top with a 5-minute opening drive resulting in a KiJana Owens one-yard touchdown run and never looked back in a 38-7 win over Columbus to open the season. Owens ran for three touchdowns on the night. Cole Joneson tossed a pair of touchdown passes to Brendan Folk and Marcos Reyes, and Kort Steele drilled a 33-yard field goal to complete the scoring for the Bulldogs.
