The North Platte Community College Lady Knights started the McCook Community College off right by going 3-0 on the first day. They defeated Dodge City Community College 25-23,25-15,25-19, Trinidad State Junior College, 25-17,25-15,25-23, and Lamar Community College, 27-25,25-15,25-21.

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Pinch-hitter Josh Harrison singled home Francisco Cervelli with the go-ahead run in the eighth inning and the Pittsburgh bullpen continued its hot streak in the Pirates’ 5-3 victory over the Colorado Rockies on Friday night.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) — Kendrys Morales hit his 15th homer, Edinson Volquez pitched into the seventh inning and the AL Central-leading Kansas City Royals beat the Tampa Bay Rays 3-2 on Friday night.

The North Platte Community College Lady Knights volleyball team will travel to McCook to participate in the McCook Community College Invitational on Friday and Saturday, August 28-29.

The No. 5 Nebraska volleyball team opens the 2015 regular season with the Nebraska Invitational at the Bob Devaney Sports Center this weekend.
