Six Nebraska greats were named to the Football Writers Association of America 75th Anniversary All-America Team, the most of any school in the nation.

Strasburg pitches 7 strong as Nationals beat Rockies, 4-1

colorado-rockiesDENVER (AP) — Stephen Strasburg pitched seven strong innings, Jayson Werth hit a tiebreaking triple in the eighth and the Washington Nationals rallied to beat the Colorado Rockies 4-1 on Wednesday night.

Nebraska loses Pierson-El for 6-8 weeks with a foot injury

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — Nebraska wide receiver and return specialist De’Mornay Pierson-El will be sidelined six to eight weeks after injuring a foot in practice.

Coach Mike Riley announced Wednesday that the sophomore was hurt during Tuesday’s practice. Pierson-El was second nationally in punt-return average last season, and he tied for the national lead with three returns for touchdowns. Nationals end six-game skid with 15-6 victory over Rockies

colorado-rockiesDENVER (AP) — Yunel Escobar homered and drove in four runs to help the Washington Nationals end a six-game losing streak with a 15-6 victory over the Colorado Rockies on Tuesday night.
