CINCINNATI (AP) — Lorenzo Cain had a tie-breaking RBI single in the second inning, Ben Zobrist had four hits and Kansas City benefited from a Cincinnati baserunning gaffe as the Royals beat the Reds 4-3 Wednesday night to complete a two-game sweep.

DENVER (AP) — Stephen Strasburg pitched seven strong innings, Jayson Werth hit a tiebreaking triple in the eighth and the Washington Nationals rallied to beat the Colorado Rockies 4-1 on Wednesday night.

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) — Defensive end Kenny Anunike, who starred in Denver’s preseason opener, will undergo arthroscopic knee surgery Thursday amid concerns he’s suffered another serious injury.

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — Nebraska wide receiver and return specialist De’Mornay Pierson-El will be sidelined six to eight weeks after injuring a foot in practice.
Coach Mike Riley announced Wednesday that the sophomore was hurt during Tuesday’s practice. Pierson-El was second nationally in punt-return average last season, and he tied for the national lead with three returns for touchdowns.
