NPCC to host Mid-Winter Classic youth basketball tournament on February 4

North Platte –North Platte Community College Knights basketball will host their annual Mid-Winter Classic Youth Basketball Tournament at the McDonald-Belton Gymnasium on Feb. 4, 2018.

The tournament is open to boys and girls in the fifth through the eighth grade.

There will be a maximum of eight teams for each division and each team will be guaranteed three games.

Entry fee is $100.00 per team before January 19, 2018.

NPCC softball signs Alea Binkly from Council Bluffs

North Platte – The North Platte Community College Knights softball team has announced the signing of Alea Maray Binkly from Council Bluffs, Iowa.

Binkly, a catcher and utility player plays high school softball at Lewis Central High School. As a junior at Lewis Central, Binkly was a second team selection to the Hawkeye 10 Conference.

She is also a member of the Mid West Slammers club team, based out of Council Bluffs.

Binkly joins other recruits for the 2018-19 season: Megan Hernandez-Belew from Broomfield, Colo., Natalee Hall from Loveland, Colo., Kylea Wall from Loveland, Colo, Sienna Pfaff from Salem, Utah, and Maddie Liddell from Glenwood, Iowa.

North Platte – The North Platte Community College Lady Knights volleyball team has announced the signing of Trinity Langley of Potter-Dix High School.

Langley, a 6’ 0” middle blocker, played four seasons for the Potter-Dix High School Coyotes.

During her career, Langley played in 247 sets, had 552 kills, 345 total blocks, 78 service aces, and had a .250 kill efficiency.

Lady Knight Head Coach Alexa McCall said, “Trinity will be a great addition to our team and either a right side or middle. She jumps well and is a coachable kid. We can’t wait to see what she does for our team!”

Langley, the daughter of Justin and Meradith Langley, joins Sydney Mullin from Maxwell, Gabby Menghini from North Platte, Haiden Kreber from Sutherland, Bailey Chintala from Fleming, Colo., and Hannah Biesecker from Kimball in the 2018 recruiting class for the Lady Knights.

Knights drop road game at Otero, 70-60

La Junta, Colo. – The North Platte Community College Knights basketball team dropped a Region IX South Sub-Region contest to the Otero Junior College Rattlers, 70-60, on Sunday afternoon.

The Rattlers led throughout the game, and held a 35-24 lead at halftime. In the first half, the Rattlers shot 41.9 percent (13 for 31) from the field, including two 3-pointers, compared to the Knights 21.2 percent (7 for 33) and two 3-pointers.

The Knights were eight for 10 from the free throw line in the first half, and finished at 72.7 percent at the line, (16-22). The Rattlers were 16 of 25 for the free throw line for 64 percent.

The Rattlers out-rebounded the Knights 47-46.

Aaron Ridley led a balanced scoring attack for the Knights, now 4-6 on the season and 2-2 in the South Sub-Region, with 14 points. Trajan Harris and Godfrey Rolle, each chipped in 12 points, and Goy Lew added 11 points. Nelo Nducuia had seven rebounds to pace the Knights.

Jervae Robinson led the Rattlers, 10-2 on the season and 2-1 in the South Sub-Region, with 16 points. Josh McNair had 13 points and 15 rebounds for the Rattlers. Chudier Bile added 11 points and Andre Arissol had 10 points.

The Knights are next in action on January 6, when they play Nebraska Community College Athletic Conference opponent Southeast Community College at the McDonald – Belton Gymnasium.
