Former Husker running back Ken Clark has died. The two-time All-Big Eight performer suffered a massive heart attack on Sunday in Minneapolis. An Omaha native, Clark rushed for over 1000 yards in the 1988 and 1989 seasons for the Huskers. He ranks seventh on Nebraska’s career rushing yards list. Clark would go on to play parts of three seasons with the Indianapolis Colts. Ken Clark was 46 years old.

Huskers Eliminated from National Duals
The Husker wrestling team was eliminated from the NWCA National Duals on Sunday. The 13th-ranked Huskers started their day with a 28-8 win over number 11 Virginia, but then were beaten by 10th-ranked Cornell 19-17. The Huskers won five matches over the team actually nicknamed the Big Red, but never led the dual. Next up for Nebraska on the mat are the Big Ten Championships, March 9 and 10 in Champaign, Illinois.
BASKETBALL: Irish, Eagles, Sailors Win Subdistrict Titles
Three Lincoln County teams took home girls basketball subdistrict titles last night. The St. Pat’s Lady Irish had to work overtime for theirs. Double overtime, in fact. Mandy O’Malley scored 16 points as the Lady Irish knocked off Hershey 48-43 for the C2-11 subdistrict crown. In the D1-11 subdistrict final, the Sutherland Lady Sailors routed Paxton 61-19. And in the D2-9 subdistrict final, Brady held off Eustis-Farnam 49-42. District final games are held next Friday night at neutral sites to be determined.

BASKETBALL: Dawgs, Lady Dawgs Hope to Stay Hot on Senior Night (LISTEN LIVE on ESPN Radio 1410)
It’s Senior Night for the North Platte Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs. As the class A basketball regular season comes to a close this weekend, the Dawgs and Lady Dawgs host Lexington in their final home games. The boys come into the game on an eight-game winning streak, while the girls are on a five-game tear. ESPN Radio 1410 will have the action from the Dawghouse. Pregame coverage starts at 5:30, prior to the girls game tipping at 5:45.
NPCC Hosts Southeast in Penultimate Home Games
The North Platte Community College Knights and Lady Knights open their final weekend of home games tonight, as they host Southeast at McDonald-Belton Gymnasium. Both the Knights and Lady Knights are going for season sweeps of the Storm. The Knights beat the Storm 82-56 and the Lady Knights triumphed 72-68 back on December 8 in Beatrice. A Lady Knights win would secure a home game for the Region IX Division II championship game. The women’s game starts at 5:30 tonight, with the men to follow at 7:30.
Husker Baseball Opens Season Tonight
It’s time to play ball for Darin Erstad and his Husker baseball team. They open their season tonight in Baskersfield, California with a game against Cal State-Bakersfield. The Huskers are picked to finish second in the Big Ten this season. 20 letterwinners return, including preseason All-America pick Michael Pritchard. Right-hander Brandon Pierce will take the mound to open the season tonight. It’s the first of four games the Huskers will play this weekend, with two against 22nd-ranked Cal State-Fullerton tomorrow night and one against USC on Sunday. First pitch tonight is set for 5 PM.
Huskers Win Seventh Straight
Make it seven straight wins for the Husker women’s basketball team. They raced past Ohio State 58-39 at the Devaney Center, holding the Buckeyes to their lowest point total in eleven seasons. Lindsey Moore led the Huskers with 14 points. Emily Cady added 10 points and hauled down a career-high 16 rebounds. Nebraska improved to 19-6 overall and 9-3 in the Big Ten with the win. They’re off for a week before visiting Michigan next Thursday night.
