NPCC Lady Knights Basketball Adds Victoria Brown

North Platte – The North Platte Community College Lady Knights basketball team announced the signing of Victoria Brown from Port Arthur Memorial High School in Port Arthur, Texas.
Brown, a 5’ 7” guard, played for Memorial High School, who finished 18-13 in the 2015-16 season.
Brown averaged 6.8 points per game, 1.2 assists per game, 3.1 rebounds per game and 1.4 steals per game.
Lady Knights Head Coach Richard Thurin said, “Brown shoots the three-pointer well and will help at the guard position. She sees the floor really well.”
Brown is the fifth recruit for the Lady Knights for the 2016-17 season.
North Platte Senior Legion falls to Kearney; face elimination game Tuesday night
North Platte senior legion now faces elimination in the A7 district tournament following a 6-3 loss to Kearney on Monday night in Hastings. North Platte will play Hastings at 4 pm on Tuesday night in an elimination game. The winner will advance to play Kearney in the championship game at 7 pm on Tuesday night. Seniors to district semi-finals; Juniors face another elimination game Monday night
Updated Senior Legion District Bracket. North Platte faces Kearney at 7 pm, 7/18 in Hastings.
Juniors will face Hastings in an elimination game at 5 pm on Monday 7/18 in Lexington.

The Junior legion tournament in Hastings has also been pushed back a day, the North Platte juniors will play on Saturday instead of Friday. A bracket will be uploaded if/when one is posted.
North Platte junior legion baseball begins road back to State
The North Platte junior legion baseball team finished runner-up at the state tournament a season ago. Friday night they begin their trek back to the state tournament at the A7 District Tournament in Lexington. North Platte is the No. 2 seed and will face No. 3 Lexington in the opening round on Friday night at 8 pm.

NPCC Lady Knights Basketball Hires Bell as Assistant Coach

North Platte – The North Platte Community College Lady Knights Basketball team has hired Ashley Bell as the new assistant basketball coach for the 2016-17 season. Bell was a volunteer assistant coach during the 2015-16 season for the Lady Knights.

Nebraska’s Andrew White will get release so he can transfer

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — Andrew White, the second-leading scorer for Nebraska last season, plans to play his final season at another school as a graduate transfer.
Coach Tim Miles said Sunday that White requested a release and will be given one. White, who sat out the 2014-15 season after transferring from Kansas, averaged 16.6 points and 5.9 rebounds in his only season with the Cornhuskers.
