Yori Extended Through 2017

Husker women’s basketball coach Connie Yori has received a two-year contract extension that will keep her at the helm of the program until 2017. The extension comes on the heels of a successful 2011-2012 campaign that saw Yori’s squad make the NCAA tournament for the fourth time in the past six seasons. Yori had previously received a three-year extension after leading the Huskers to their best season in school history in 2010. Yori will enter her eleventh season as head coach this winter.

Rockies Welcome A’s For Series Opener

CWS: Schedule Set as Cocks, Hogs and Golden Flashes Advance

The field is set for the College World Series after the final three teams wrapped up super-regional victories. South Carolina finished off a rain-delayed sweep of Oklahoma, and Kent State and Arkansas won decisive game threes over Oregon and Baylor to move on. Action at Omaha’s TD Ameritrade Park begins on Friday, with tournament Cinderella Stony Brook playing the number two national seed UCLA, and the number three seed Florida State taking on Arizona. Saturday’s first game matches first-time visitors Kent State against Arkansas. First-round action wraps up Saturday night with what is by far the marquee matchup of the first weekend. It will be a rematch of last season’s championship series, as two-time defending champions and number eight national seed South Carolina against the top national seed Florida.
