Volunteers needed for Class D State Golf tournament in North Platte

volunteerSpring is in the air, and it’s time to recruit volunteers for the Boys State Golf Tournament coming up on May 24 and 25.  If you can help, please fill out this volunteer form and return it to the North Platte Visitors Bureau.

On May 24 and 25, the best of Nebraska High School Class D boys golfers will converge on North Platte for the championship tournament. The event is expected to draw 95-100 golfers to the Lake Maloney Golf Course. Class D is one of the highest-traveling classes, so we can expect many family, friends and well-wishers to come to North Platte to watch the tournament. Husker Win Streak Snapped in 4-3 Loss

Omaha – A walk-off single by Brett Murray in the bottom of the ninth inning gave the Creighton Bluejays (21-7, 2-1 Big East) a 4-3 victory over the Nebraska baseball team (22-11, 7-2 Big Ten) on Tuesday night at TD Ameritrade Park. North Platte High School Head Softball Coach Resigns

North Platte SoftballNorth Platte High School Head Softball Coach, Rick Titus, has resigned effectively at the end of this school year. Titus has accepted a teaching position at Plattsmouth High School.

North Platte High School was a state tournament qualifier and finished 19-20 this past season in Titus’ first season at the helm. The Lady Bulldogs defeated Beatrice in the opening round of the class B state tournament for the program’s first state tournament win since 1999.

North Platte High School Activities Director, Marc Mroczek, says, “I would like to thank Rick for all is hard work and dedication to the softball program. We wish him and his family the best.”

The search for a new head softball coach will begin immediately.
