Girls Subdistrict Finals Tonight (Listen LIVE – Hershey on Q-Country 107.3, St. Pat’s on ESPN Radio 1410)
Tonight, five Lincoln County girls basketball teams take the court with subdistrict championships on the line, looking to move one win closer to the state tournament. The C1-11 subdistrict final from Lexington pits the Hershey Lady Panthers against Cozad. Q-Country 107.3 FM will have the action live, with pregame coverage starting at 6:45 leading to the tip-off at 7. The St. Patrick’s Lady Irish will hope to move one step away from their first ever trip to state as they play Southern Valley in the C2-11 subdistrict in Holdrege. ESPN Radio 1410 has that game for you, with a 6:45 pregame show and a 7 PM tip. In the D1-12 subdistrict final, it’s Sutherland taking on Maxwell from the McGahan Activities Center in North Platte. And the D2-9 subdistrict final in Cozad sees Brady battle Ansley.
Knights, Lady Knights Top McCook In Final Visit to True Hall Gym
The North Platte Community College Knights and Lady Knights completed season sweeps of McCook Community College with victories in McCook last night. In the women’s contest, the Lady Knights scored the final ten points of the game and knocked off the Lady Indians 57-48. Jalesha Thomas’s 14 points and nine rebounds led the Lady Knights in both categories. The Lady Knights improve to 13-11 with the victory. In the men’s game, the Knights edged the Indians 63-59 behind 22 points from Nick Tomsick. Tomsick’s layup with one minute to play gave the Knights the lead for good, and he hit two free throws with two seconds left to seal the win. The Knights move their record to 16-10 with the win. The Knights and Lady Knights are back in action Saturday with home games against Eastern Wyoming.
Husker Women Try to Snap Losing Streak at Home
The 16th-ranked Nebraska women’s basketball team looks to snap a two-game losing streak as they return home tonight to host Northwestern. The Huskers have lost back-to-back games for only the second time this season, falling at home to Michigan and on the road against Minnesota. They’ve fallen out of the lead in the Big Ten Conference, and are now 8-4 in league play. They’re still looking for their 20th win, which would give them the 13th 20-win season in program history. Northwestern enters tonight’s game on a three-game losing skid of their own, and are 3-9 in Big Ten action. Nebraska is 4-1 against the Wildcats all time, with a win in their last meeting back in 2006. This is their first meeting as conference foes. Tip-off at the Devaney Center tonight is scheduled for 7:05.

NPCC Looks For Season Sweeps at McCook (Listen LIVE on ESPN Radio 1410)
Tonight on ESPN Radio 1410, it’s North Platte Community College basketball. The Knights and Lady Knights hope to sweep the season series against their rivals from McCook Community College when they meet at True Hall Gymnasium in McCook this evening. In the first meeting this season, in North Platte back on January 24, the Lady Knights defeated the Lady Indians 77-66, while the Knights men routed the Indians 78-58. Both North Platte teams are coming off of victories at Southeast Community College on Saturday, with the ladies winning 60-53 and the men using a last second shot to knock off the Storm 59-57. Tonight, the women’s game tips off at 5:30, with the men’s game to follow at 7:30. ESPN Radio 1410’s coverage starts with the Kwik Stop Pregame Show at 5:15.
Husker Baseball Picked By Big Ten Coaches For Fourth Place Finish
The Nebraska baseball team has been picked to finish fourth in their inaugural season in the Big Ten by the conference coaches. The Huskers, who return seven position starters and 17 lettermen from last season’s team, are pegged to finish behind defending conference champion Michigan State, Purdue, and Minnesota. Starting pitchers Tom Lemke and Travis Huber and first baseman Kash Kalkowski were selected by the coaches as Players to Watch for the Huskers. The Huskers finished 30-25 and 9-18 in their final year of Big 12 conference play. They fired coach Mike Anderson after the season and replaced him with former Husker two-sport star and Major League All-Star Darin Erstad. The Huskers open their season on the road this weekend with a three-game series against Gonzaga in Peoria, Arizona.
Girls Subdistrict Basketball: Five Lincoln County Teams Into Finals
All five Lincoln County girls basketball teams playing in subdistrict semifinals last night walked off the court victorious. In the C2-11 subdistrict in Holdrege, the top-seeded St. Patrick’s Lady Irish routed Alma 75-21 to advance to the final against Southern Valley. Hershey, the top seed in the C1-11 subdistrict in Lexington, eased past Ogallala 51-30 to set up a matchup with Cozad in the subdistrict final. In the D2-9 subdistrict in Cozad, fourth-ranked Brady, the top seed, defeated Sumner-Eddyville-Miller 53-33. They’ll take on Ansley in their subdistrict final. And in the D1-12 subdistrict in Bayard, it will be a Lincoln County final as top seed Sutherland, who topped Crawford 54-20, will play Maxwell, who beat Paxton 46-34. Subdistrict finals will be played on Friday night.

Girls Subdistrict Action Tonight (Hershey on Q-Country 107.3, St. Pat’s on ESPN Radio 1410)
The girls subdistrict basketball tournaments for the C and D classes opened with the play-in games yesterday. Tonight, the Hershey Panthers start play in the C1-11 subdistrict. The Lady Panthers finished the regular season with a 15-6 record and are the top seed in the subdistrict. They play Ogallala at 5:30 tonight in Lexington. Q-Country 107.3 FM has the action with pregame coverage starting at 5:15.
The St. Patrick’s Lady Irish are the top seed in the C2-11 subdistrict after compiling a 19-2 regular season mark. They play Alma in Holdrege at 6 PM tonight. You can hear the game on ESPN Radio 1410, with pregame coverage getting underway at 5:45.
Also in action tonight are Brady, the top seed in the D2-9 subdistrict, Wallace in the D2-10 subdistrict, and Sutherland and Maxwell in the D1-12 subdistrict.
