Huskers Fall to Purdue on Senior Night

Lincoln – Despite a season-high 32-point effort from Shavon Shields on Senior Night, Nebraska fell to No. 15 Purdue, 81-62, on Tuesday night at Pinnacle Bank Arena.

Shields, who has averaged 28.5 ppg since missing four games with a concussion, was spectacular in his final regular-season home appearance. The 6-foot-7 senior hit 11 of 19 shots and went 6-for-6 from the line, but was the only Nebraska (14-16, 6-11 Big Ten) player to finish in double figures. NPCC Men’s Basketball to Host Trinidad in First Round on Saturday

npcc tsjcNorth Platte — The North Platte Community College Knights basketball team, seeded fourth in the South Sub-Region will host the number five seed in the south, Trinidad State Junior College in the first round of the Region IX men’s basketball tournament at the McDonald-Belton Gymnasium on the South Campus of North Platte Community College.  Tip-off is set for 3 pm on Saturday, February 27. Husker Comeback Falls Short at Penn State

State College, Pa. – Nebraska erased an 18-point second half deficit, but Shep Garner’s free throw with 7.2 seconds left broke a 55-all tie, as the Huskers fell at Penn State 56-55 on Thursday evening.

The Huskers (14-15, 6-10 Big Ten) had an opportunity to steal a road win, but Shavon Shields jumper at the buzzer was off the mark, as Penn State (15-13, 6-9 Big Ten) held on for the victory. Continue reading “Husker Comeback Falls Short at Penn State”

NPCC to Host Trinidad in First Round of Region IX Tournament

npcc tsjcNorth Platte —The National Junior College Athletic Association Region IX tournament bracket has been released.  The North Platte Community College Knights basketball is seeded fourth in the South Sub-Region and will host the number five seed in the south, the Trinidad State Junior College.
