AMERICAN IDOL: Back to the ’90s This Week

Wednesday’s American Idol will see the finalists taking on songs from the years they were born. It’ll be a ’90s fest, with eight of the Top 12 having been born in that decade.

What’s the absolute worst “hit” song that they played on the radio in the year you were born? What songs are we bound to hear?

(VIDEO) EAR-BITING ATTACK: Man Arrested for Assault on Basketball Coach

Police in Springfield, Massachusetts arrested the assistant coach of a youth basketball team after he went Mike Tyson on the coach of the other team, biting off part of his ear, instead of shaking his hand.

34-year-old Timothy Lee Forbes was identified by authorities yesterday and he pleaded not guilty. He’ll have a dangerousness hearing on Friday in which he’ll attempt to seek bail.

The incident occurred during a Catholic Youth Organization game between teams of fifth- and sixth-graders last Friday. Forbes is facing charges that include mayhem and assault and battery.

DENNIS QUAID’S WIFE FILES FOR DIVORCE: TMZ reports that the divorce petition, filed by Kimberly Buffington-Quaid, states, “The marriage has become insupportable because of discord or conflict of personalities.” She’s asking for spousal support, attorney’s fees and for their community assets to be fairly divided.

POLICE LOOKING FOR GARTH BROOKS TRESPASSER: Police in Oklahoma are looking for a suspected trespasser who may have set a vehicle on fire near the home of Garth Brooks. According to The Boot, authorities saw a man running across Brooks’ property when they responded to a neighbor’s call about the fire.

 

MARTHA STEWART WELCOMES SECOND GRANDCHILD: Martha’s daughter Alexis has welcomed baby boy Truman via a surrogate. Alexis already has a 1-year-old baby girl, Jude, also born via a surrogate.

 

JIMMY ELLIS HAS DIED: According to the New York Times, the man behind the song “Disco Inferno” passed away yesterday (March 8th) at the age of 74, from complications of Alzheimer’s disease. Ellis was the lead singer of the 70s funk band, The Trampps.

JENNIFER NETTLES: A New Duet?

Sugarland’s Jennifer Nettles isn’t ditching Kristian Bush, but she’s signed on to star in the upcoming ABC competition series Duets. She and her fellow judges — Lionel Richie, Kelly Clarkson and Robin Thicke — will travel the country seeking talented duet partners. Each one will pick two singers to bring back to the elimination rounds, who’ll duel in front of a live studio audience.
