In 1976, the Allman Brothers Band broke up after Gregg Allman testified against his personal road manager, who was charged with drug trafficking. The band reformed in 1978.

In 1977, singer-actor John Davidson escaped a fire at the Beverly Hills Supper Club in Southgate, Kentucky, which killed 164 people and injured 130. Davidson stayed to help the victims.

Also in 1977, Bruce Springsteen settled his year-long suit against ex-manager Mike Appel and immediately began recording his “Darkness on the Edge of Town” album.

In 1983, The US Festival opened in San Bernardino, California. It lost millions of dollars, largely because of huge fees paid to such performers as David Bowie and Van Halen.

In 1996, singer Dave Gahan (GAHN) of Depeche (duh-PESH’) Mode was arrested after allegedly overdosing on a speedball of cocaine and heroin at his hotel in suburban Los Angeles.

Stone Temple Pilots have accused the band’s formerĀ frontmanĀ Scott Weiland of hijacking its name and songs to promote his solo career.

The lawsuit filed Friday in Los Angeles also accuses Weiland of being chronically late to concerts when he was with the band and having a lawyer interfere with airplay of a new single by the group.

The 45-year-old Weiland and Stone Temple Pilots parted ways in February, and the singer said at the time that he learned of his ouster from a statement released to the media.

A phone message left for his manager Andrea Pett-Joseph was not immediately returned.

The band’s hits include “Vasoline,” ”Interstate Love Song” and “Plush,” which won a Grammy in 1993 for best hard rock performance with vocal.

Brad On Drugs While Married to Jennifer

Brad Pitt has opened up about his marriage to Jennifer Aniston and says he was abusing drugs during that period of his life. During a recent interview with Esquire, Pitt admits that his life felt incomplete during the 1990’s and his marriage to Aniston was a big part of it.

“For a long time I thought I did too much damage – drug damage. I was a bit of a drifter. A guy who felt he grew up in something of a vacuum and wanted to see things, wanted to be inspired. I followed that other thing. I spent years f***ing off,” he says in the interview.

Pitt and Aniston were married for seven years before splitting in 2005. In a previous interview with Parade Magazine he admits that they weren’t happy years:

“I think that my marriage had something to do with it. Trying to pretend the marriage was something that it wasn’t,” he explained.

Rut-Roh Amanda Bynes

(CNN)) Adding to what’s becoming a lengthy list of run-ins with the law, New York police arrested actress Amanda Bynes on Thursday night after she allegedly tossed drug paraphernalia out the window of her 36th floor Manhattan apartment.

Officers were called to her theater district abode after her building manager reported the 27-year-old star was smoking an “illegal substance” in the lobby, Christopher Pisano, a New York police spokesman, said.

Bynes had headed back to her apartment by the time police arrived, but she let officers in when they knocked on the door, according to Pisano.

Once inside, the officers noticed a bong and other marijuana paraphernalia sitting on the coffee table, which Bynes immediately started to throw out the window.

Police have charged her with tampering with physical evidence, reckless endangerment and criminal possession of marijuana, Pisano said. Bynes was charged with endangerment because the paraphernalia could have hit someone below, he said.

The tampering charge is a felony. The two others are misdemeanors.

Bynes, wearing a blonde wig, was seen walking into NYPD’s Central Booking from the back of a police van on Thursday evening.

Bynes’ representatives did not immediately respond to CNN’s request for comment.

The star of “Easy A” and “Hairspray” has lived in New York since last fall, having moved there from the Los Angeles area.

Bynes has a DUI case pending in Southern California, while a pair of separate hit-and-run incidents against her were dismissed late last year. Earlier this month, she was sentenced to three years probation for driving on a suspended license.
