Bowie Set to Release First Album in 10 Years

David Bowie is celebrating his birthday by releasing new music.

The English singer announced Tuesday, his 66th birthday, that he has released his first song in 10 years titled “Where Are We Now?”

A new album, “The Next Day,” will be out March 11 and 12 in the United Kingdom and the United States, respectively.

The slow groove was released on iTunes and in 119 countries. It was produced by longtime collaborator Tony Visconti.

Bowie’s last album was 2003’s “Reality.” The fashion forward singer debuted in the 1960s, releasing multiple successful albums with sounds that range from rock to pop to glam rock to soul and funk.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer’s hits include “Let’s Dance,” ”China Girl,” ”Fame” and “Dancing In the Street.”

Second Look at Death of Amy Winehouse Confirms Alcohol as Cause

A British court holding a second inquest into the death of Amy Winehouse has confirmed that the singer drank herself to death.

The inquest was held for a second time after the coroner in the first inquest was found to lack the proper qualifications.

The soul singer was found dead at her London home in July 2011 at the age of 27. An inquest later that year found that the star had died from accidental alcohol poisoning.

The coroner later resigned after her qualifications were questioned. She had been hired by her husband, the senior coroner for inner north London.

Tuesday’s hearing at St. Pancras Coroner’s Court had been expected to reach the same conclusion about the cause of death.

Anheuser-Busch Hopes to get America Hopped Up on New Brew with Super Bowl Ad

Anheuser-Busch InBev is introducing a new specialty brew with a Super Bowl ad.

The maker of Budweiser, Bud Light and other brews said Tuesday that Budweiser Black Crown is an amber lager. The first ad promoting it will run on Feb. 3 during Super Bowl 47, though the beer will be available in stores nationwide starting Jan. 21.

The beer’s recipe resulted from a challenge to Anheuser-Busch InBev’s 12 brewmasters, an effort dubbed Project 12. Customers were able to sample the options during a testing phase last year.

Budweiser Black Crown has 6 percent alcohol content. By comparison, Budweiser has 5 percent.

Benj Steinman is editor of Beer Marketer’s Insights. He says Anheuser-Busch InBev is trying to compete with the large variety of specialty products now on the market.

Madrid Bids For The 2020 Olympics

Madrid says its bid for the 2020 Olympics is strengthened by Spain’s sporting excellence, the capital’s qualities as a modern city and many existing facilities.

Speaking Tuesday at the city’s town hall, Spanish Olympic Committee chief Alejandro Blanco says hosting the games would demonstrate “the importance sport has in this country.”

Culture and Sports Minister Jose Ignacio Wert said the government was drafting new anti-doping legislation to protect sporting achievement.

Madrid Mayor Ana Botella says the bid features a frugal and realistic $1.9 billion budget made possible by use of many existing facilities in the recession-hit country, with only four permanent venues still to be built.

Madrid is competing against Istanbul and Tokyo. The IOC will select the host city on Sept. 7 in Buenos Aires.

Gabrielle Giffords TV Interview to Air On Anniversary of Shooting

A TV interview with former Arizona Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and her husband will air on the second anniversary of the Tucson shooting rampage that killed six and wounded Giffords and 12 others.

ABC says Giffords and retired astronaut Mark Kelly will speak during the interview about a new initiative they’re launching. The network didn’t specify what the initiative would aim to do.

A call to a Giffords spokeswoman wasn’t immediately returned Sunday.

The interview by anchor Diane Sawyer will air at 6:30 p.m. EST Tuesday.

Giffords and Kelly met Friday with the families of victims in last month’s shooting in Connecticut that left 26 people dead inside an elementary school. The couple met earlier in the week with New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, a longtime gun control advocate.

Letterman Says He Sees Shrink Once Per Week

David Letterman says he sees a psychiatrist once a week, part of his attempt to be the person he once believed he was.

The late-night talk show host gave an extraordinary interview to Oprah Winfrey in which he talked about his feuds with her and Jay Leno, and his own effort to make amends for the affairs that became public three years ago when a man tried to extort him.

The interview aired Sunday night on Winfrey’s OWN network after it was done in November.

The CBS host says his wife has forgiven him for his transgressions and his life is more joyful than ever, but he hasn’t necessarily forgiven himself.

Letterman also called his late-night rival Leno the funniest guy he’s ever known.

Michael J. Fox to Play Newscaster on Upcoming NBC Show

Michael J. Fox

On his upcoming NBC comedy, Michael J. Fox will play a newscaster who quits his job because of Parkinson’s Disease but returns to work in the show’s first episode because a new medical regimen has helped him control many of the disease’s symptoms.

NBC said Sunday the comedy closely tracks many aspects of Fox’s personal life and tries to have fun with an image that has left him an object of pity-fueled admiration.

The show doesn’t have a title yet. NBC Entertainment President Jennifer Salke said it will premiere in September. Although the schedule isn’t set yet, NBC is aiming to put it on Thursday night, where “30 Rock” and “The Office” are leaving in the next few months.

Salke said Fox is meeting this week with actresses who could potentially play his wife on the show.

Britney Spears on Downward Spiral, Again

The old Britney Spears is back — and it may get her booted from X Factor!

Insiders say the star has been for months showing signs of her old, crazy behavior.

A source says, “She shows up late, she wanders around aimlessly, and she is in her own world. She wasn’t ready for this responsibility.” The source adds that Brit has let down Simon Cowell, who expected her to bring in huge ratings for his show. That, of course, didn’t happen. Now the singer, who earned $15 million for her first season as a judge, is rumored to be on the verge of losing the high-profile gig.

Brit’s latest downward spiral allegedly began months ago on the set of her perfume ad, where she made a bunch of strange requests. The source says, “First, she wanted the producers to fly Vanilla Ice in to duet with her, which was just weird. They called him and he wanted $500,000, so that wasn’t going to work. Then, she demanded that exotic animals be flown in to be in the video and they had to tell her that that wasn’t going to work for legal reasons and insurance reasons. She wanted to do her own makeup, and when she would get it done, she would just mess it up on top of what they did.”
