Word of Mouth & The Talbott Brothers July 19th

July 19th, at Ft. Cody Trading Post, just off of I80 on Halligan Drive, 6-9 p.m. $5 admission.  Bring lawn chairs, blankets, food if you like. Family friendly, food and beverages can be purchased.

The Talbott Brothers are American pop-rock, blues-rock and acoustic-rock musicians. Born and raised in Imperial, Ne, the singer-songwriters bring a wide array of heart-melting harmonies and intricate guitar playing that are sure to leave you wanting more. Not only do they play with energy, excitement and passion, but their relational stage presence will make you feel right at home.

Nick and his brother Tyler competed in the Galaxy of Stars talent competition in 2006 where they won 1st place for Vocal Duo and 2nd place overall, which granted them recording time at WareHouse Studios in Omaha, Ne. After recording 8 songs acoustically and playing at local coffee shops their music began to reach a new level. Publicity from the Galaxy of Stars also landed them an in-studio performance on Nebraska Television. In 2010 they returned to WareHouse Studios, this time with bassist Tim Stratton [Pilot for Kite, After the Order] and drummer Aaron Asay where they recorded the Talbott Brothers EP with engineer Tom Ware.

Since then, they have shared the stage with artists such as Caleb Hawley (American Idol), Reed Grimm (American Idol), Brad Colerick, Remedy Drive, Me In Motion and Starfield.

In 2012, the Talbott Brothers band formed. Nick and Tyler have teamed up with phenomenal drummer Brian Gangwish and driven bassist Dan Lantzer. They have begun to create a unique sound that sets them apart from a lot of other artists; defying the lines of a particular genre. They have a large following of loyal fans that travel to see them perform and support their cause. Their first single will be released in July followed by their self-titled EP in September 2012 as they kick off the first leg of their tour. Their full-length album will be released at the beginning of 2013.

NPCP Presents “Jungle Book” admission is a free-will donation

NORTH PLATTE- NEB- Over fifty local youth have been preparing to bring the timeless tale “Jungle Book” to life during The North Platte Community Playhouse Summer Children’s Theatre Program.  The workshop, which started July 9, runs for two weeks and concludes with public performances on July 21 at 7:00PM and July 22 at 2:00PM.  During the workshop, students learn about all aspects of theatrical production, as well as developing skills in cooperation, communication and creativity.

Adapted from the Rudyard Kipling novel by Vera Morris, “Jungle Book,” tells the story of Mowgli, a boy raised by wolves, and his amazing adventures with the creatures of the jungle.  Mowgli is taught the law of the jungle by his teachers and friends Baloo the Bear, Kaa the Python and Bagheera the panther.  Mowgli also encounters the evil tiger Shere Khan and his minion Tabaqui as well as many other creatures.  Join Mowgli as he learns the lessons of life and rises to the top of the jungle hierarchy.

The workshop is made possible by the support of Kwik Stop Food Stores as well as the support of Playhouse patrons and season members.  Directors are Scott Carlson and Lou Fornander along with Assistant Directors Brin Brauer and Britnee Fear.  Admission is a free-will donation to support The North Platte Community Playhouse.

JENNIFER LOPEZ HEADED BACK TO MOVIES?: Jennifer Lopez may have finished her stint onAmerican Idol for good — but that doesn’t mean she has all the time in the world. The entertainer is currently co-headlining a tour with Enrique Iglesias — but she did admit to the Huffington Post that she’d love to get back into movies sometime soon. She said, “I do miss doing films. I feel like the last two years with `Idol,’ I’ve really, really focused on, you know, my music. … It was all kind of very synergistic, it worked really well together. But film is something that I really loved, it’s how I kind of started in this business, and it doesn’t leave you. I am an actress, I need to do that, too.”

NEW ‘BACHELOR PAD’ ROMANCE? Bachelorette reject Kalon McMahon has reportedly managed to find love through the show — just not with Emily Maynard. Kalon landed on Bachelor Pad 3 after getting dumped, where he’s reportedly dating Lindzi Cox, the runner-up from Ben Flajnik’s season. GossipCop.com reported that the two are “pretty much” a couple.

UMA THURMAN WELCOMES DAUGHTER: Uma Thurman is a mom for the third time. The 42-year-old actress welcomed a baby girl on Sunday (July 15th) with her longtime boyfriend Arpad Busson. The actress already has a daughter Maya, 14, and son Levon, 10, with ex-husband Ethan Hawke. Busson has two sons with his ex-fiance Elle MacPherson.

‘NEWSROOM’ COSTARS ARE DATING: There’s a romance brewing on the set of Newsroom. The New York Post reported that Kathleen “Kick” Kennedy and Thomas Matthews have started dating since production began. They were recently spotted holding hands at a benefit party in NYC.

‘SKY KIDS’ STAR DIVORCING: Spy Kids star Alexa Vega is getting divorced. The 23-year-old former child actress is pulling the plug on her marriage to producer Sean Covel after less than two years of marriage. Covel, who worked on Napoleon Dynamite, is 13 years her senior.

‘BREAKING BAD’ PREMIERE BREAKS RECORDS: The fifth season premiere ofBreaking Bad was the most-watched episode in the history of the series. 2.9 million people tuned in on Sunday night — marking a 34% increase in the all-important 18-49 demo over last year’s premiere. 3.5 million people then viewed the night’s repeat episode.

‘IDOL’ ONLY LOOKING FOR ONE-YEAR JUDGES: American Idol producer Nigel Lythgoe said that he is not looking for long-term judges to fill the vacant seats on Idol, explaining that like was the case for Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler — it’s hard to uproot a major star. He told Ryan Seacrest on Monday, “[T]here are so many names coming at me at the moment. I joke about it and say, ‘Oh, I’m looking for the Three Stooges or Jerry Lewis.’ But at the end of the day, I think what we’ve seriously got to talk about is just using people for a year…If we do want these big stars, and we do, you cannot take them away from what they do. That’s depriving the public of a star for a start and stopping them from earning a lot of money.”

CHARLIE SHEEN DONATING $1 MILLION TO U.S.O: Charlie Sheen is donating $1 million to the U.S.O (United Service Org.) — marking the largest single contribution the USO has ever received from an individual. The actor said he will donate 1 percent of the profits from his Anger Management earnings to the organization, with a minimum of $1 million and an unlimited cap. He explained in a statement, “It’s an honor for me to be able to give back to these men and women of the military who have done so much for all of us. They put their lives on the line for us every day, and I’m just happy that my work on Anger Management can bring a little bit of relief to the troops and their families.”

‘GMA’ OFFICIALLY BEATS ‘TODAY’: The official numbers are in and Good Morning America squarely beat Today during Savannah Guthrie’s debut week on NBC. Nielsen confirmed that GMA beat its rival by 357,000 viewers.

Sylvester Stallone asks for compassion

Two days after his 36-year-old son Sage was found dead, Sylvester Stallone released a statement to the public asking for sensitivity. “When a parent loses a child there is no greater pain. Therefore I am imploring people to respect my talented son’s memory and feel compassion for his loving mother Sasha,” the 66-year-old actor told TMZ Sunday night. “This agonizing loss will be felt for the rest of our lives,” Stallone said. “Sage was our first child and the center of our universe and I am humbly begging for all to have my son’s memory and soul left in peace.”

He also called for an end to “the speculation and questionable reporting” surrounding Sage’s death. Reports circulating on Friday and over the weekend had blamed his death on prescription pills, speculated suicide, and had stated that he been dead anywhere from three to seven days prior to his body being discovered in his Los Angeles area home by a housekeeper on July 13, though initial reports said the police had been called to do a welfare check after Sage had not been heard from for some time.

An autopsy was conducted on Sunday, but the outcome will not be released until the results of the toxicology tests are received.

“We don’t know what the circumstances are around it,” Sage’s attorney George Braunstein told NBC Los Angeles on Sunday. “He was in good health, great spirits. He was thinking of getting married, working on a lot of film projects.”

The identity of the girlfriend attorney Braunstein is referring to is not known, but Sage was previously married to a woman named Starlin Wright. The marriage ended in 2008 after a year.

Sage — who played the son of his dad’s iconic character, Rocky Balboa, in the 1990 film “Rocky V” — was Stallone’s eldest son and one of two children he had with first wife Sasha Czack, whom he split with in 1985 after 11 years of marriage. Stallone went on to have three daughters with his current wife, Jennifer Flavin.
