No Longer An Idol

Steven Tyler is done with American Idol after serving as a judge for two seasons on the hit Fox show. The Aerosmith frontman announced his departure on Thursday, explaining that he wanted to refocus on his music career.

Tyler said in a statement, “After some long . . . hard . . . thoughts, I’ve decided it’s time for me to let go of my mistress American Idol before she boils my rabbit. I strayed from my first love, Aerosmith, and I’m back, but instead of begging on my hands and knees, I got two fists in the air and I’m kicking the door open with my band.”

Idol creator Simon Fuller said of his departure, “Steven Tyler is a real ‘Idol,’ a rock legend. If you had told me 10 years ago he would be a judge on AMERICAN IDOL, I would have thought it impossible. The fact that this became a reality and we had the pleasure of him gracing our stage for two seasons makes me very proud. I completely understand his desire to get back to his life as the singer in America’s greatest-ever rock band. AMERICAN IDOL will miss him!”

Tyler’s announcement came on the same day that Jennifer Lopez hinted she would step down from the show as well. Earlier on Thursday, Lopez told Natalie Morales that “I am thinking that it’s time for me to go.”

All of us at the studio and the show are thinking about Kristin and wishing her a quick recovery.”

  • Sources on set said that Chenoweth was knocked unconscious after hitting the ground.

People just need to mind their own business. That’s a woman who just gave birth. Her first priority right now is her child. Her first priority is not losing the weight. You should be proud of her for that, a lot of people just dump their kids off at nannies and lose the weight overnight. Executive producer Mark Hentemann said of the taping, “When he was in the booth, he said that he felt like he hadn’t done that voice since he did it in front of the camera. NO MORE PLAYBOY FOR KENDRA: Kendra Wilkinson says that her Playmate days are behind her. The now-married mom, who starred on Girls Next Door, said that she won’t be posing for Playboy anymore. When asked about the possibility, Kendra responded, “Absolutely not. I am just a completely different person now. I am still really good friends with Hef, but thinking about the Mansion is like thinking about high school. Luke Bryan Apologizes

Luke Bryan apologized Wednesday for having written down some words to the National Anthem on his hand before performing it at the Major League Baseball all-star game the night before in Kansas City.

Bryan received criticism for doing so but he defended himself via Twitter.

“I had a few keys words written down to insure myself that I wouldn’t mess up. I just wanted to do my best. I promise it was from the heart,” he Tweeted.

Bryan later said, “If I offended anyone with my approach I sincerely apologize. Anytime I sing the anthem it is an honor and my heart beats out of my chest.”

Bryan also received flak for checking his watch during the Anthem. He Tweeted, “I did check my watch because I knew the stealth bomber would fly over 2 minutes in and I knew I started a little late,” he wrote.

Of course, taking heat for singing the anthem is not new. Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler received negative comments for his screaming the song before an NFL game in January. Cristina Aguilera sang the wrong words during the 2011 Super Bowl.

Luke took to his Twitter this morning with an explanation…
Morning everyone. I really wanna explain the national anthem performance from last night. I had a few keys words written down to insure myself that I wouldn’t mess up. I just wanted to do my best. I promise it was from the heart. If I offended anyone with my approach I sincerely apologize. Anytime I sing the anthem it is an honor and my heart beats out of my chest. I did check my watch because I knew the stealth bomber would fly over 2 minutes in and I knew a started a little late. Being a part of the all star game was amazing and I look forward to the next time I can perform the anthem. Thanks y’all. Love ya

Actress Kristin Chenoweth “Knocked Out Cold”

Actress Kristin Chenoweth was hospitalized Wednesday after getting smacked by falling lighting equipment on the Brooklyn set of the CBS drama “The Good Wife.”

Chenoweth, 43, was “knocked out cold” after getting hit “square in the head. I thought she was dead at first,” the witness said, adding that she slammed her head on concrete during her fall.

“That area is a vortex for wind … and a big gust of wind blew the lighting off the scaffolding,” the witness added.

An FDNY spokesman told The Daily News paramedics responded to North 6th St. and Kent Ave. in Williamsburg about 5:05 p.m. after receiving a report that a woman was hit by scaffolding.

The spokesman did not identify the victim by name, but said she was transported to Bellevue Hospital with minor injuries.
“The Good Wife” star Josh Charles was spotted rushing into the hospital Wednesday night.
Chenoweth’s publicist and manager did not return requests for comment. Calls to CBS reps also went unreturned.

A Bellevue hospital spokeswoman confirmed that Chenoweth — who has won an Emmy and Tony award — was receiving treatment there.

A source told the website, “Kim’s lawyers are certainly going to have to re-think their strategy to determine if they still want to depose Myla.
