Tom Cruise highest paid actor

Tom Cruise may not have a wife — but he does have a lot of money. On Tuesday — Cruise’s 50th birthday — he was named Forbes’ highest-paid actor in Hollywood.

The actor banked $75 million between May 2011 and May 2012 — putting him $38 million ahead of the second place-place finishers, Leonardo DiCaprio and Adam Sandler. Both of them pocketed $37 million during the same time period.

Cruise’s haul came mostly from Mission: Impossible — Ghost Protocol, which netted $700 million worldwide. Tom reportedly got a piece of the profits.

Tom is worth an estimated $250 million, but TMZ reported that he and Katie signed an “iron-clad” prenup. Despite the terms of the document, it is believed he will still have to shell out a lot of money in child support for their daughter Suri.

  • Dwayne Johnson and Ben Stiller rounded out the top five on the Forbes list.

Adele engaged?

Adele’s boyfriend of nearly a year, Simon Konecki, was reportedly planning to propose to the singer before Adele announced that she was expecting their first child together. According to Us Weekly,  Simon was planning to propose anyways and Adele is excited to have a low-key affair where her mother gives her way.  Adele is reportedly excited to be a wife and a mom.

MADONNA’S TOUR TRUCK OVERTURNS: Madonna’s MDNA Tour truck carrying her stage gear reportedly overturned on a highway outside of Stockholm on Tuesday (July 3). Luckily, no one was reportedly killed in the accident but at least one person was injured and several cars were severely damage. Police are still unsure what caused the accident.

AJ MCLEAN HAVING A GIRL: Backstreet Boy AJ McLean and his wife Rochelle Karidis are expecting a girl. McLean tweeted, “Thank you guys for all of your love and support.” The couple are planning to name the baby Ava Jaymes. McLean and Karidis got married in December 2011.

JON BON JOVI RELEASING FRAGRANCE: Jon Bon Jovi is going to become the latest celebrity to release a fragrance. According to CBS, Avon announced that Bon Jovi’s line will be called Unplugged and Jon will be appearing in both ads for Unplugged for Her and Unplugged for Him. The women’s fragrance will reportedly be a floral oriental perfume and the men’s fragrance reportedly has a woody musk aroma.

NEW SONG FROM AMY WINEHOUSE: A new song from Nas’ upcoming album, Life Is Good has surfaced and the song, “Cherry Wine,” features the late Amy Winehouse. Nas and Winehouse paired up for the recording in 2008.

TOPLESS PICTURES OF DEMI AND BRUCE’S DAUGHTER SURFACE?Topless pictures of Demi Moore and Bruce Willis’s daughter Tallulah are reportedly being shopped online. Radaronline.com reported that four photos of the topless teen smoking what appears to be a joint are being offered for sale.

CLAIRE DANES IS PREGNANT: Claire Danes and her husband Hugh Dancy are expecting their first child. People magazine confirmed that the Homeland actress is pregnant and due later this year. The couple has been married since 2009.

MCCAONAUGHEYS EXPECTING THIRD CHILD: Newlyweds Matthew andCamila McConaughey are expecting their third child. Matthew — who tied the knot with Camila on June 9th — tweeted on Wednesday, “Happy birthday America, more good news, Camila and I are expecting our 3rd child. God bless, just keep livin.” The couple have a two-and-a-half-year-old daughter named Vida and a four-year-old son named Levi.

ALEC STILL TWEETING: Even though he shut down his personal Twitter account, Alec Baldwin is still using the social networking site — just from the account of his Alec Baldwin Foundation. The actor had an exchange with his daughter Ireland after she tweeted that the media lies about everything. After she wrote, “The media may not lie about everything but a great amount, yeah” — Alec replied, “You have learned well, Grasshopper.”

‘DALLAS’ ACTRESS IS PREGNANT: Actress Leonor Varela and her producer partner Lucas Akoskin are expecting their first child together. A rep for the 39-year-old Dallas star confirmed, “It’s Leonor’s first child and the couple are over the moon.” It’s not believed that the pregnancy will affect her storyline on the show as there are reports circulating that her character will soon be killed off.

TRAVIS STORK IS MARRIED: Travis Stork is married. The Bachelor turned The Doctors co-host tied the knot with pediatrician Dr. Charlotte Brown last Saturday (June 30th). 10 days before the nuptials he tweeted, “My days as a “bachelor” are nearing an end! My wedding ring has arrived. . . getting excited!” The couple had been dating for three years.

DEENA CORTESE SETTLES DRUNKEN ARREST SITUATION: Jersey Shore star Deena Cortesehas escaped a disorderly conduct charge stemming from her drunken arrest in Seaside Heights last month. TMZ.com reported that the reality star instead pled guilty to “failing to use the sidewalk” and was ordered to pay a total $139 in fines. She apologized for “causing any trouble,” and was subsequently let go.

KAL PENN DIVERTED FOR POOP: Kal Penn’s flight from LAX to Dallas earlier this week had to make an emergency landing after the toilets stopped working. When the plane landed in New Mexico the actor/politician tweeted, “toilet overflowed. My 1st emergency landing cuz of poop. Kinda funny kinda not.” A spokesperson for American Airlines later confirmed, “The lavatories were inoperable, so we landed in Albuquerque briefly to service them, for the convenience of our customers. We apologized to our passengers for the inconvenience.”

‘SPIDER-MAN’ HAS BIG OPENINGThe Amazing Spider-Man recorded the biggest Tuesday gross in history after it earned $35 million throughout its opening day. The film beat the record previously held by Transformers — $27 million on Tuesday, July 3, 2007.

CHERYL COLE ON GLEE? Cheryl Cole will reportedly appear on Glee next season. Jane Lynch revealed that the short-lived X Factor judge will be popping up on the Fox show. She said, “There’s been talk on set of Cheryl appearing for a year or so, but it’s set to happen now. Matthew Morrison (Will Schuester) has spoken very highly of her and the younger guys on set are keen to have her on, for obvious reasons. Matthew’s chatted to her and she seems keen. Cheryl’s the perfect Glee fit, she can sing, she can dance and she looks good. It would be cool if she played herself…”

ALL-STAR ‘CELEBRITY APPRENTICE’ IN THE WORKS: All all-star edition of Celebrity Apprentice is reportedly in the works. GossipCop.com reported that potential participants include former winners Joan Rivers and Bret Michaels, as well as runners-up like Marlee Matlin. Other names being discussed includeGene Simmons, Jesse James and Omarosa.

MATT LAUER ‘100%’ BEHIND ANN CURRY EXIT: It’s been widely reported, but now sources are confirming that Matt Lauer was “100% behind” Ann Curry leaving the Today show. Lauer signed a big contract with the morning show earlier this year, and reportedly demanded Curry be removed. An insider toldUs Weekly that in the days before her departure, Curry and Lauer “were really icy to each other, and she refused to speak to him all week.”

RIP Andy Griffith

Beloved actor Andy Griffith died this morning.

Former UNC President Bill Friday says The Andy Griffith Showand Matlock actor died at his home in Dare County, North Carolina around 7 a.m.

Friday, who is a close friend of the actor, confirmed the news.

Emergency medical crews responded to Griffith’s home this morning.

Griffith, who was born in Mt. Airy, N.C., was launched to fame as Sheriff Andy Taylor in The Andy Griffith Show for the CBS from 1960-1968. On the show, Ron Howard played his son, Opie. He starred on other shows and in films, but found his greatest success again with legal drama Matlock, from 1986 to 1995. He played the title character, Ben Matlock.

In 2000, Griffith underwent quadruple heart-bypass surgery and in 2007 had hip surgery after a fall.

Griffith and his first wife, Barbara Bray Edwards, married in 1949. They were divorced in 1972 and she got custody of their daughter Dixie and he got custody of son Sam, who died in 1996 after years of alcoholism. His second marriage, to Greek actress Solica Cassuto, lasted eight years, from 1973 to 1981.

He and Cindi Knight were married on April 12, 1983, when she was 27 and he was 56. A private man, he told theVirginian-Pilot in 2008 that he’s friendly and outgoing to a point, but has been known to turn down requests for autographs. “When my wife, Cindi, and I go somewhere and we don’t want to be recognized. She says, ‘Don’t talk.’ “
