DEMI LOVATO STILL SINGLE: Demi Lovato is insisting that her and One Direction’s Niall Horan are not dating. Demi said, “No, I’m not with him. He’s really sweet and he’s one of my really good friends now. But I’m single at the moment. And I plan to be for a long time because I need to focus on my career and myself and my well-being before I think about getting in a relationship with anyone.”

MARIAH CAREY HONORS WHITNEY HOUSTON: Over the weekend Mariah Carey honored Whitney Houston with a speech at the 2012 BET Awards at The Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. Whitney said, “The first time I heard Whitney’s voice, I was mesmerized like the rest of the world. Just an unknown, budding singer myself, I was captivated by the power in her range, the richness of her tone and her unique ability to wrap a lyric in emotion. We’ll always have that voice we all fell in love with. She inspired us all.”

JOSH LUCAS WELCOMES SON: Josh Lucas is a father. Us Weekly reported that the actor and his wife Jessica welcomed their first child on Friday (June 29th). The couple have named their baby boy Noah Rev Maurer. Josh and Jessica tied the knot this past March while Jessica was pregnant.

GIULIANA RANCIC COULD MISS BABY’S BIRTH: Giuliana Rancic’s job might cause her to miss the birth of her son. The TV host, who is expecting her first child via gestational surrogate, is hoping that the baby is late so that there’s no conflict. She told the Today show, “The baby is due the end of August, and I wrap at the Olympics [in London] on August 11. So we are going to be on standby.” However, she noted, “We think it’s going to be OK. The doctor assured us. He thinks maybe even early September the baby will come.”

WHAT’S THE DEAL WITH ASHTON AND MILA? Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher won’t define their relationship — but they’re not being shy about the affection they have for one another. Although the formerThat 70s Show costars won’t confirm rumors of a romance, they were spotted showing major PDA during a weekend lunch in Los Angeles. A witness told Us Weekly, “They were seated on a couch on the same side of the table and Mila was running her hands through Ashton’s hair. She had her elbow resting on his back and couldn’t stop playing with his hair and rubbing his shoulders. He leaned in and whispered to her and kissed her cheek. They were holding hands.” Insiders say that the two are in fact dating — but their relationship is not exclusive.

JOSIE MARAN GIVES BIRTH: Josie Maran welcomed her second daughter on Sunday (July 1st) in Pennsylvania. The model/actress tweeted news of the birth, but her rep said that Maran and her husband Ali Alborzi are still undecided on a name. The couple also has a six-year-old daughter named Rumi Joon.

BRISTOL PALIN’S REALITY SHOW IS A BOMB: Bristol Palin’s reality show is a dud. RadarOnline.com reported that Lifetime is considering pulling Bristol Palin: Life’s A Tripp because it’s ratings are so low. The show debuted to just 726,000 viewers, with the audience shrinking to 586,000 and then 426,000 viewers. The network has already shifted the show from 10 p.m. to 11 p.m. — airing after a repeat of the hit Dance Moms.

‘BACHELORETTE’ SHAKES UP FINALE FORMAT: The Bachelor franchise is shaking up protocol. Us Weekly reported that for the first time, The Bachelorette’s After the Rose special will air live after the finale — instead of the pre-taped episodes that usually follow the show. The July 22nd finale also marks the first time in seven years that ABC has moved the finale to a different night of the week — in this case, from Monday to Sunday night. The network also revealed that they’ve ordered a sixth season of True Blood.

PARIS HILTON SAYS NO TO BRAVO: Paris Hilton actually turned down a chance to appear on television. RadarOnline.com reported that the producers of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills asked Hilton to appear alongside her two aunts, Kyle and Kim Richards on the season that is currently being filmed, but she had to decline because she’ll be out of the country. A source told Radar, “Producers were hopeful Paris would be able to be a part of the finale, which they could have promoted and publicized. Paris definitely would have greatly bolstered the ratings for the finale, but, her schedule just couldn’t accommodate it. Paris’ aunts, Kim and Kyle also wanted her to be on the show, but they completely understand.”

Who Is the Daddy?

On Friday (June 29th), Adele announced that she and her boyfriend, Simon Konecki, are having a baby. But who’s the Grammy-winning singer’s guy? Here’s some background on the 24-year-old singer’s beau:

He’s 37 and has been married once before to stylist Clary Fisher. They wed in 2004. Earlier this year, when Adele’s new romance went public, there had been reports that Konecki and Fisher weren’t officially divorced yet, prompting Adele to take action. She addressed the rumors on her website: “This is the first and last time I will comment on the details of my relationship with Simon. Contrary to reports and headlines in the press today, Simon is divorced and has been for 4 years.”

Konecki already has a five-year-old daughter with his ex-wife, reports Us Weekly.

He’s a former investment banker, who’s now co-founder and CEO of British charity Drop4Drop, an organization that aims to help alleviate the global water crisis, by delivering efficient and accountable clean water projects across the developing world,” according to its website.

Konecki graduated from the U.K. boarding school, Eton, the same school Prince William and Prince Harry attended.

  • Adele’s baby news announcement explained: “I’m delighted to announce that Simon and I are expecting our first child together. I wanted you to hear the news direct from me, obviously we’re over the moon and very excited but please respect our privacy at this precious time. Yours always, Adele xx”

Why? Oh! Why?

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are getting divorced after five years of marriage. Katie initiated the split, filing divorce papers on Thursday (June 28th) in New York City in which she cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason she wants to end the marriage.

An attorney for Holmes released a statement saying, “This is a personal and private matter for Katie and her family. Katie’s primary concern remains, as it always has been, her daughter’s best interest.”

Cruise was on location in Iceland shooting a movie called Oblivion and was reportedly “blindsided” by Katie’s filing. His publicist reacted in a statement that read, “Tom is deeply saddened and is concentrating on his three children. Please allow them their privacy to work this out.”

He later added, “I would hope that it’s not a contentious matter. I know Tom is not a particularly contentious person.”

Katie, 33, is seeking “primary residential custody” of the couple’s six-year-old daughter, Suri. Cruise, 49, has two children from his previous marriage to Nicole Kidman.

  • Katie and Tom stepped out together out of the blue in 2005 and infamously gushed about each other to the media during their whirlwind courtship. Katie quickly became pregnant with their daughter Suri, and they tied the knot shortly after she was born.

SCIENTOLOGY BEHIND THE SPLIT?

TMZ.com reported that Tom’s ties to Scientology was the major reason that Katie filed for divorce. Sources say that the actress was fearful that Tom would “drag” their daughter Suri deeper into the church, as she’s now at an age where it could become a significant part of her life.

Insiders also say that religion was the motivation for Katie to seek full custody, as she doesn’t want Tom to control decisions regarding Suri’s involvement with the church.

Although there have been rumors of trouble in the couple’s relationship ever since they got together — they were seen holding hands in Iceland two weeks ago. Katie was, however, noticeably absent from her husband’s side during his recent Rock of Ages premiere events.

  • TMZ.com also reported that Katie recently rented a new apartment in New York City, separate from the townhouse that the couple shares. That is where she’s reportedly been staying with Suri in recent weeks. The website also noted that Tom stayed in a NYC hotel when he was in town for a few days last month, rather than in their apartment.

WHY IS IT IMPORTANT WHERE THEY FILE?

Katie reportedly filed for divorce in New York because courts there are supposedly more likely to grant her sole legal custody and control over child-rearing decisions than California courts.

This could reportedly hurt Tom financially as well since the tax rates are much higher there. Sources say he has purposefully been trying to avoid seeming as though they are residents of New York specifically to avoid any tax-related issues.

  • RadarOnline.com claims that Cruise “will file a response in New York, asking that the divorce proceedings be halted in the Big Apple because California is the proper venue for the matter to proceed. Team Cruise is going to assert that Katie doesn’t meet the residency requirements to file in New York, and that both live full time in California, specifically Los Angeles.”

WHAT’S THE DEAL WITH 33?

Holmes was Cruise’s third wife — and like Mimi Rogers and Nicole Kidman before her — she was 33-years-old when they split.

PerezHilton.com reported that there’s an interesting 33 tie to Scientology — as the Hubbard Association of Scientologists was established in Phoenix, Arizona — which lies on the 33rd parallel. And according to numerology, 33 is the “Master Teacher.”

  • Meanwhile, according to the couple’s prenup, Katie reportedly got $3 million for each year she remained married to Tom — up to a maximum of 11 years, which totals $33 million. If they were married more than 11 years, she could have been entitled to half of his entire fortune.

IS KATIE BEING FOLLOWED?

TMZ.com claims that Scientology insiders have been trailing Katie over the past few weeks because they believe she could be a threat to the organization.

Sources told the website that there have been several “mysterious” men and vehicles around Katie’s apartment in recent weeks and they have followed her when she’s out.

  • TMZ noted that a publication has been tailing Katie for reporting purposes — so that could possibly be the source of the followers.
