Eric Bledsoe added 18 points for the Suns, who had six players score in double figures as they ended a seven-game road skid. The Suns grabbed 65 rebounds, most in the NBA this season.

Will Barton had 22 points and Danilo Gallinari chipped in 20 as the Nuggets lost their eighth straight game at Pepsi Center. It’s their longest losing streak at home since dropping 10 in a row beginning in April 1997 and spilling over into the following season.

The arena wasn’t all that packed due to a snow storm hitting the area.

Nuggets’ Faried, Chandler Out with Injuries against Suns

Denver_NuggetsDENVER (AP) — The Denver Nuggets are without banged-up forwards Kenneth Faried and Wilson Chandler on Wednesday night against the Phoenix Suns.

Faried is sidelined with a bruised left thumb, which he hurt in the first half Monday against Brooklyn. Chandler is missing a second straight game due to a sore left groin. Chandler said the move was precautionary and he hopes to return Friday against Utah.

The news that Faried couldn’t play caught Nuggets coach Brian Shaw a little by surprise since the high energy forward practiced the day before.

Shaw said of Faried: “It was his call and he said he wasn’t going to be able to play tonight. You can’t question that. He knows himself better than anybody else does.”

Faried is averaging 11.3 points and 8.6 rebounds this season.

Lopez Scores 19 Points, Nets beat Nuggets 110-82

Denver_NuggetsDENVER (AP) — Brook Lopez led seven Nets players in double figures with 19 points, and Brooklyn won its second consecutive road game by beating the Denver Nuggets 110-82 on Monday night.

Deron Williams added 16 points and 12 assists, and Thaddeus Young scored 15 in another solid outing for the Nets since his acquisition last week from Minnesota in exchange for Kevin Garnett. Brooklyn, coming off a 114-105 win at the Los Angeles Lakers last Friday, won back-to-back road games for the first time since mid-January.

Danilo Gallinari had 22 points for the struggling Nuggets, who have lost 16 of 18 — including seven in a row at home. It matches their longest losing streak at the Pepsi Center since also dropping seven straight from Feb. 6 to March 2, 2003.

Westbrook leads Thunder past Nuggets Without Durant

Denver_NuggetsOKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Russell Westbrook had 21 points and a career-high 17 assists, and the Oklahoma City Thunder beat the Denver Nuggets 119-94 on Sunday night without Kevin Durant.

Durant was out after a procedure on Sunday to replace a screw that was causing soreness in his surgically repaired right foot. The reigning NBA MVP is expected to return this season.

Westbrook, playing with two new starters, put on a show. He had 10 assists in the second quarter and 12 in the first half.

Enes Kanter had 20 points and 12 rebounds for the Thunder, who have won six straight and eight of nine. Serge Ibaka added 20 points, eight rebounds and eight assists.

Ty Lawson scored 17 points and Danilo Gallinari added 16 for Denver, which has lost seven of eight.

Nuggets Waive Robinson, Claver

Denver_NuggetsDENVER (AP) — The Denver Nuggets waived Thomas Robinson and Victor Claver, two of the players they acquired in a deal with Portland at the trade deadline.

General manager Tim Connelly announced the moves Sunday.

Robinson, Claver and Will Barton, along with a 2016 lottery-protected first-round pick, were obtained from the Trail Blazers on Thursday for Arron Afflalo and Alonzo Gee.

The 6-foot-9 Claver was drafted by Portland with the 22nd pick in 2009. He played 80 games over three seasons with the Blazers.

Robinson, a 6-9 forward out of Kansas, was originally drafted by Sacramento with the fifth-overall pick in 2012. He was dealt to Houston and then to Portland. He has played 172 games, averaging 4.6 points and 4.4 rebounds.

Middleton, Henson lead Bucks to 89-81 Win over Nuggets

Denver_NuggetsMILWAUKEE (AP) — Khris Middleton scored 15 points, John Henson added 14 and the Milwaukee Bucks beat the Denver Nuggets 89-81 on Friday night in their first game since tweaking their roster at the NBA trade deadline.

The athletic Henson had four buckets during a 20-7 run over the last 7 minutes of the third quarter to help put Milwaukee ahead for good after trailing the entire first half.

Denver stayed within a possession or two for much of the fourth quarter, but went 1 of 5 from the field with a turnover over the last 3:26.

Wilson Chandler led Denver with 19 points.

Michael Carter-Williams, who was acquired from Philadelphia as part of a three-team deal that sent Brandon Knight to Phoenix, did not play because of a sprained right big toe.

Nuggets Send McGee, Pick to 76ers in Trade

Denver_NuggetsDENVER (AP) — The Denver Nuggets have dealt often-injured center JaVale McGee, a protected 2015 first-round pick and the draft rights for Chukwudiebere Maduabum to the Philadelphia 76ers on Thursday.

In return, the Nuggets received the rights to Cenk Akyol, a 6-foot-6 guard from Turkey who plays in the Turkish Basketball League, along with financial relief from McGee’s salary.

The 27-year-old Akyol was originally drafted by Atlanta in 2005.

McGee has been hobbled by a left tibia stress fracture, which has limited his production the past two seasons. He’s played in 17 games for Denver this season, averaging 5.2 points.

Maduabum was selected by the Los Angeles Lakers in 2011, only to have Denver later pick up his rights. He recently played in four games for Fort Wayne of the NBA Development League.

DENVER (AP) — The Denver Nuggets have sent veteran guard Arron Afflalo to the Portland Trail Blazers in a five-player deal.

The Nuggets also included backup forward Alonzo Gee in the trade Thursday. General manager Tim Connelly says that in return, Denver received Thomas Robinson, Victor Claver and Will Barton, along with a lottery-protected first-round pick in 2016.

Afflalo has averaged 14.5 points this season in his second stint with the Nuggets. He was reacquired by the team from Orlando in a draft-night trade last June.

The Nuggets are shaking things up after a 20-33 start in coach Brian Shaw’s second season. They traded center Timofey Mozgov to Cleveland last month for two first-round picks.

Yahoo! Sports first reported the trade.

Ty Lawson Misses Nuggets’ 1st Practice After Break

Ty-Lawson-Nuggets-DenverDENVER (AP) — Point guard Ty Lawson missed the Denver Nuggets’ first practice after the All-Star break and coach Brian Shaw is looking into the reason why before handing out any sort of punishment.

Asked about Lawson’s nonattendance, Shaw said: “Travel issues or whatever, he’s not here. … So we had to go without him.” Shaw said one of the choices may be holding Lawson out of the starting lineup Friday in Milwaukee.

Lawson leads the team in scoring (16.9) and assists (10.1).

His absence comes a day before the trade deadline, with several Denver players being bantered about in rumors. That includes guard Arron Afflalo, who said he won’t pace the floor with anxiety because, “the circumstances are either playing in the NBA or playing in the NBA. I’ll be fine.”
