Blake Griffin had his second 30-point performance in a row, finishing with 32 for the Clippers, who have dropped their last three games on the road.

Trailing by 16 points at halftime, the Clippers began the third quarter with a 16-0 run to pull into a 59-all tie on a driving layup by Matt Barnes. Denver missed its first 10 shots of the second half before Gallinari connected on a tiebreaking 3.

Denver_NuggetsDENVER (AP) — James Harden scored 41 points, including eight in overtime, and the Houston Rockets beat the Denver Nuggets 115-111 on Wednesday night after Arron Afflalo tied the game on a buzzer-beating 3-pointer at the end of regulation.

Patrick Beverley sealed Houston’s seventh win in eight games by hitting four straight free throws in the final 17.8 seconds. Harden had a big game at the line, too, hitting 18 of 21.

Dwight Howard scored 24 points and grabbed 16 rebounds despite a strained right knee that had him questionable for the game.

Wilson Chandler had 23 points and Ty Lawson dished out 16 assists for the struggling Nuggets, who’ve dropped seven of their last eight.

Spurs Bounce back for 99-91 Win over Nuggets

Denver_NuggetsDENVER (AP) — Kawhi Leonard scored 18 points and the San Antonio beat the banged-up Denver Nuggets 99-91 on Sunday night.

Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili added 15 points apiece for the Spurs, who bounced back from Friday’s loss to the Los Angeles Lakers despite the absence of Tony Parker, who was out with an injured hamstring.

Arron Afflalo had a season-high 31 points to lead the Nuggets, who have lost six of their last seven games.

J.J. Hickson started in place of injured Kenneth Faried and Ty Lawson left the game with 3:02 remaining in the second quarter after a collision with Ginobili opened a cut above his left eye. The cut was bandaged and he returned early in the third quarter.

Down by 10 points heading into the fourth quarter, the Nuggets pulled to 79-74 on a baseline jumper by Afflalo with 5:42 remaining.

The teams were trading baskets until Ginobili drained a 3-pointer and Cory Joseph drove in for a reverse layup around a Nuggets turnover as San Antonio went in front 94-84 with 2 minutes left to play and Denver couldn’t get back within striking distance.

Denver_NuggetsHOUSTON (AP) — Dwight Howard had 26 points and 13 rebounds in his return from injury, James Harden had a triple-double, and the Houston Rockets overcame an early deficit for a 108-96 victory over the Denver Nuggets on Saturday night.

Howard, who missed the previous 11 games with a strained right knee, also reached a milestone, eclipsing 10,000 rebounds in his career.

Harden had 24 points, 10 assists and 10 rebounds for his third career triple-double. He almost didn’t get it, grabbing his 10th rebound with less than a second left in the game.

Ty Lawson had 19 points and 12 assists, and Darrell Arthur had a season-high 20 points for the Nuggets.

Chandler, Afflalo lead Nuggets over Heat, 102-82

Denver_NuggetsDENVER (AP) — Wilson Chandler scored 17 points, Arron Afflalo had 16 and the Denver Nuggets beat the Miami Heat 102-82 on Wednesday night to snap a four-game losing streak.

Chris Bosh had 14 points to lead Miami, which has dropped four of its last five on the road after starting the season 5-2 away from home. The Heat are in the middle of a stretch of eight of 10 games on the road.

Denver has been streaky in the first quarter of the season. The Nuggets lost six straight, won five in a row to go above .500, but followed that with the four-game slide.

The Nuggets led 79-62 after three quarters and then opened the fourth with a 14-4 run to pull away.

Lou Williams scored 26 and Amir Johnson had 18 for the Raptors, who trailed by five points with less than three minutes to play but got a game-tying 3-pointer from Patrick Patterson with 28 seconds left.

Patterson finished 5 for 7 from 3-point range, while his teammates were a combined 4 for 26.

Patterson had 19 points and Terrence Ross 16 for Toronto, which leads the Eastern Conference with a 16-5 record.

Hawks Make Big, Early Lead Hold Up Against Denver

Denver_NuggetsATLANTA (AP) — The Atlanta Hawks have moved into a tie for second place in the Eastern Conference.

But with 63 games left in the regular season, Kyle Korver isn’t getting too excited.

“Every NBA game is tough, but we’ve had a favorable schedule to this point,” he said. “We’ve gotten to play some teams that aren’t as high up in the standings as we’re going to play later.”

Paul Millsap scored 23 points, Korver added 15 and the Hawks won their sixth straight game with a 96-84 victory over the Denver Nuggets on Sunday.

Wilson Chandler finished with a season-high 29 points and Timofey Mozgov had 14 points for the Nuggets. Chandler and Mozgov combined for 21 rebounds.

Denver began the season with a win over Detroit before losing seven of eight. A Nov. 17 victory at Cleveland started a 7-1 stretch, but the Nuggets have since dropped their last three.

Al Horford and DeMarre Carroll each had 11 points and combined for 17 Atlanta rebounds.

The Nuggets missed 23 of their first 32 field-goal attempts and trailed 45-26 after Mike Scott’s short turnaround jumper midway through the second.

Denver coach Brian Shaw, whose team was missing Kenneth Faried, Nate Robinson and JaVale McGee, needs less experienced players to fill the void.

Alonzo Gee scored a season-high 14 points in a reserve role, but the rest of the bench combined for just nine points.

“We’re down 10 guys,” Shaw said. “Guys have an opportunity to play, so they have to take advantage of those minutes. Guys have to step up.”

Atlanta took its biggest lead at 24 when Millsap hit a 3 early in the third. Denver went on a 28-14 run to cut the lead to 10 late in the period, and baseline jumper by Mozgov made it a nine-point lead in early in the fourth.

The Nuggets were 5 for 32 on 3-point attempts before Chandler’s made it 87-78. He followed with a layup on Denver’s next possession, cutting the lead to seven, but Korver’s 3 and Teague’s layup put the Hawks back up by 12.

Atlanta never trailed after Korver’s 3 midway through the first.

“We’re starting to figure out how to play,” Horford said, “and build those habits to play the same way every night.”

Denver point guard Ty Lawson had four points and 10 assists to snap his streak of six consecutive double-doubles.

Dennis Schroder gave Atlanta its first double-digit lead with a free throw late in the first, and his straightaway 3 made it 41-24 midway through the second.
