AUDIO: Royals induct Mike Sweeney into franchise Hall of Fame

Kauffman StadiumKANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Five-time All-Star Mike Sweeney was inducted into the Royals’ Hall of Fame on Saturday night, shortly before AL Central-leading Kansas City played the Los Angeles Angels.

Royals OF Alex Gordon hoping to begin rehab assignment soon

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — All-Star outfielder Alex Gordon hopes to begin a rehab assignment in the next couple weeks and potentially rejoin the Kansas City Royals for their push toward an AL Central title.

Boyd throws 7 strong in Tigers debut, Detroit downs KC 2-1

kc-royalsDETROIT (AP) — Matt Boyd pitched seven strong innings in his Tigers debut and Anthony Gose and Ian Kinsler hit key triples as the Detroit Tigers beat the Kansas City Royals 2-1 on Wednesday night.
