Game and Parks, World-Herald Open Outdoors Website

Nebraska_game_and_parksLINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission has joined the Omaha World-Herald in creating a new outdoors website, GoOutdoorsNE.com.

The site features a mix of outdoor-related content from Game and Parks, NEBRASKAland Magazine and the World-Herald staff. There also will be news alerts, social media updates, access to outdoor forums, a trophy board, photo galleries, videos, links and more.

Game and Parks communications director Christy Rasmussen says the site is a new way to deliver agency news, messages, blogs and promotions to a broader audience.

Lincoln Workshop Set for Hunters of Small Game

Nebraska_game_and_parksLINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — Nebraska Game and Parks has scheduled a Lincoln workshop for hunters of small game.

The workshop is set to begin at 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 11 at the Lincoln Izaak Walton League Clubhouse and Range. The Game and Parks Commission’s Hunter Education team will discuss small-game opportunities, hunting techniques, equipment and calling.

The workshop will be preceded by a rimfire rifle sight-in at 6 p.m. Participants must bring their own firearms and ammunition.

The Izaak Walton League facility sits a half-mile south of Nebraska Highway 2 on 134th Street.

Nebraska Families on Target Archery Event Set

ArcheryLINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission has scheduled free archery and free food during Families on Target night.

The event is set to run from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Lincoln Archery Park.

There will be 3-D animal targets and a new aerial archery machine will be used. It lets archers shoot foam discs out of the sky.

The Lincoln Prairie Bowmen Archery Club will serve hot dogs and drinks. Participants may bring their archery gear, but loaner equipment will be available.

Nebraska Officials Weigh Waterfowl Hunting Rule Tweaks

Geese-Hunting-NebraskaLINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — Nebraska officials are considering several tweaks to waterfowl hunting rules.

The state Game and Parks board of commissioners will meet in Valentine on Friday to discuss the changes.

The board will set waterfowl seasons and bag limits for teal, canvasbacks, scaup and Canada geese.

The commissioners will also consider higher daily limits for rail, snipe, woodcock and dove.
