The North Platte Community College Knights will host a Winter Boys and Girls Basketball Tournament on Sunday, February 14, 2016 at the McDonald-Belton Gymnasium.

The tournament is open to boys and girls teams in the fifth through eighth grade.   Each team is guaranteed three games in the tournament.  Divisions will be based on grade and gender.

Cost for the tournament is $90.00 per team before January 24, 2016.  After that date cost will be $120.00 per team.

The North Platte Community College Knights defeated the Eastern Wyoming College Lancers 99-73 on Saturday afternoon in a National Junior College Athletic Association Region IX South Sub-Region game.

The Knights got off to a quick start jumping out to an 18-3 lead and never looked back.  They increased their lead to 32-7 with 7:46 to play in the first half.

The North Platte Community College Lady Knights were defeated by the Eastern Wyoming College Lady Lancers 85-75 on Saturday afternoon.

After the Lady Knights’  Suhmer Mitchell started out the game scoring the first two points,  Katrina Terrell scored the next eight points to put the Lady Lancers ahead 8-2.  The Lady Lancers extended the lead to 18-8 and maintained that lead through the rest of the first quarter to take a 24-14 lead. The North Platte Community College Knights basketball team lost on the road to National Junior College Athletic Association Region IX South Sub-Region opponent Western Nebraska Community College Cougars 84-77 at the Cougar Palace on Friday Night.

The Knights jumped out to a 24-14 lead with 10 minutes to go in the first half and increased the lead to 12, 32-20 with four minutes to go in the half.  The Cougars cut away at the lead and trailed  only 36-31 at halftime. Continue reading “NPCC Knights Lose to WNCC on Road”

The North Platte Community College Lady Knights basketball team defeated the York College Junior Varsity Lady Panthers on Friday Night 77-60 at the McDonald-Belton Gymnasium.

The win was the 200^th win for Lady Knight’s Head Coach Richard Thurin at North Platte Community College.

The North Platte Community College Lady Knights basketball team will play two basketball games this weekend.

On Friday, December 11, the North Platte Community College Lady Knights will host the York College Junior Varsity Lady Panthers at 5 pm at the McDonald-Belton Gymnasium.  The Lady Knights defeated the Lady Panthers on November 9th 68-50 at York. The North Platte Community College Knights basketball team will be on the road this weekend when they play a couple of National Junior College Athletic Association Region IX South Sub-Region opponents, Western Nebraska Community College and Eastern Wyoming College.

On Friday, the Knights will face the Western Nebraska Community College Cougars at the Cougar Palace at 8:30 pm CST.  The Cougars are 8-5 on the season and 0-3 in South Sub-Region play.  They average 85.3 points per game and allow 72.9 points per game. The North Platte Community College Lady Knights basketball team defeated the Colby Community College Lady Trojans 66-62 in overtime on Wednesday, December 9.

The Lady Knights led in the first quarter by a score of 9-4 with five and a half minutes to go for their largest lead in the game.  At the end of the first quarter the Lady Knights led by one 15-14.  In the first quarter there were four lead changes and three ties. The North Platte Community College Lady Knights basketball team will travel to Colby, Kan. to take on the Colby Community College Lady Trojans on Wednesday, December 9 at 6 pm.

Former North Platte Community College Lady Knight Volleyball player Shannon Liewer was named American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-American Honorable Mention of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) for the 2015 volleyball season.

Liewer, played for the Lady Knights during the 2012 and 2013 seasons. The last two seasons she played for the Peru State College Bobcats.

Liewer, who is from Imperial, was a libero for the 25-13 Bobcat volleyball team in the 2015 season.  During her senior season for the Bobcats Liewer had 752 defensive digs in 135 sets.  She had 33 service aces and 18 set assists.
