The North Platte Community College Knights Basketball defeated the Lamar Community College Runnin’ Lopes Saturday afternoon at the McDonald-Belton Gymnasium 73-66.

The game was “Special Olympics Night.” They were recognized at halftime and had a group picture with the Knights following the game.

Prior to the game, the mascot’s name was revealed. The name for the mascot is “Knightro” The name was chosen based on a vote on the North Platte Community College facebook page. Continue reading “NPCC Knights Basketball Defeats Lamar”

The North Platte Community College Knights basketball team will host the Lamar Community College Runnin’ Lopes on Saturday, December 5 at 3 pm at McDonald-Belton Gymnasium.

The game is a National Junior College Athletic Association Region IX South Sub-region contest.

Prior to the game, the name of the Knight mascot will be revealed.  Multiple names were suggested by students. The top three names were then voted on at the North Platte Community College facebook page to determine the name. Continue reading “NPCC Knights Basketball Host Lamar”

The North Platte Community College Knights basketball team was defeated by the Northeastern Junior College Plainsmen on Wednesday night at the Bank of Colorado Event Center 103-89 in a National Junior College Athletic Association Region IX South Sub-Region contest.

The Plainsmen began the game with a 7-2 run to take the early lead with the only basket made by Victor Lewis.  The game was close in the first half with the largest lead in the half being 26-18 lead by the Plainsmen.  The Knights cut the lead to four at the end of the half trailing 49-45 at halftime. The North Platte Community College Lady Knights were defeated by the Northeastern Junior College Plainswomen on Wednesday night at the Bank of Colorado Event Center 67-51.

The Plainswomen started out the game with a 7-2 run and extended their lead to 19-11 behind the hot shooting of Jessica Renata with four 3-point field goals.  The Knights came back with a 9-2 run with 3-pointers by Mickenzie Brennan and BreAsia Allison to end the first quarter trailing the Plainswomen 21-20. The North Platte Community College Knights softball team will be hosting their Mid-Winter Softball Camp Saturday, January 30, 2016 at the North Campus hitting facility.  The camp will run from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  All ages are welcome to attend.

The North Platte Community College Knights and Lady Knights basketball teams will travel to Sterling, Colo. to play the Northeastern Junior College Plainsmen and Plainswomen on Wednesday, December 2.

The Lady Knights will take a 4-3 record into the game against the Plainswomen, who are 3-5 on the season.

Both teams are National Junior College Athletic Association Region IX colleges.  In the women’s game the Plainswomen are Division I, while the Lady Knights are Division II, so the game will have no effect on regional standings. The North Platte Community College Knights men’s basketball team will travel to Goodland, Kansas to face the Northwest Kansas Technical College Mavericks on Monday, November 30.

The Knights are 5-2 on the season.  Tim Wagner leads the Knights in scoring with 19.9 points per game.  Diontae Champion is scoring 17.7 points per game.  Tyree Peter leads the Knights in rebounding with 8.7 rebounds per game.  Victor Lewis leads in assists with four assists per game. The North Platte Community College Lady Knights basketball team were defeated 54-51 by the Doane College Junior Varsity Lady Tigers on Sunday afternoon at the McDonald-Belton Gymnasium.

The North Platte Community College Knights lost their second game of the season falling to the Dodge City Community College Conquistadors 95-92 in a nail-biter at the McDonald-Belton Gymnasium Saturday night.

It was their second loss to the Conquistadors this season.  Dodge City defeated the Knights on November 3 at Dodge City 75-61.

The Knights trailed in the early going at 8-3.  North Platte put together a 20-6 run to lead 23-14 with just under 14 minutes to go in the half.  Continue reading “AUDIO: NPCC Knights Basketball Loses Thriller to Dodge City”

The North Platte Community College Knights basketball team will host the Dodge City Community College Conquistadors on Saturday, November 21 at 7:00 pm at the McDonald-Belton Gymnasium.

The Knights are looking to avenge their only loss of the season.  They lost to the Conquistadors earlier in the season 75-61 at Dodge City.  Point guard Lorenzo Dillard scored 21 points and seven assists against the Knights in the game.  James Newton finished with 20 points and five rebounds for the Conquistadors.
