The North Platte Community College Knights defeated the York College Junior Varsity Panthers on Wednesday 104-59 at the McDonald-Belton Gymnasium.

The Knights never trailed in the game, jumping out to a 6-0 lead and increasing the lead to 28-10 at the ten minute mark.  The lead was as much as 35 in the first half. With four minutes left the Panthers cut into the lead of the Knights when Jamarcus Cooksey drained four three-pointers.

The North Platte Community College Knights basketball team will host the York College Junior Varsity Panthers on Wednesday, November 18 at 7 pm at the McDonald-Belton Gymnasium.

The Knights are 4-1 on the season and are led by Diontae Champion from Arlington, Texas.  The freshman is averaging 18.6 points per game.  Sophomore transfer Tim Wagner is averaging 15.8 points per game and Tyree Peter is averaging 10.2 points per game. The North Platte Community College Knights basketball team defeated the Hastings College Broncos Junior Varsity 92-64 Saturday afternoon at the McDonald-Belton Gymnasium.

The Knights led throughout the game. The last tie was at six with 17:23 to play in the first half.  After that the Knights controlled the game.  In the first half, the Knights led by 27-13 for their largest lead of the half.  The Broncos did cut into the Knights lead to pull within seven at halftime 43-36. The North Platte Community College Lady Knights basketball team defeated the Colby Community College Lady Trojans 46-36 Saturday afternoon at the McDonald-Belton Gymnasium.

The game was a low scoring affair with the Lady Knights jumping out to a 13-1 lead at the end of the first quarter.  The Lady Trojans only made two field goals out of 25 attempts for eight percent in the first half.  One of the field goals was costly to the Lady Trojans when their leading scorer and rebounder on the season, Tanaka Gapare, suffered an apparent knee injury.  Continue reading “NPCC Lady Knights Basketball Defeats Colby”

The North Platte Community College Knights will host the Hastings College Junior Varsity on Saturday at 3 pm at the McDonald-Belton Gymnasium.

The Knights, 3-1 on the seasons have three players averaging in double figures led by Diontae Champion at 17.3 points per game.  Tim Wagner is averaging 14.3 points per game and Tyree Peter is averaging 10.8 points per game.  Peter is just shy of averaging a double-double by averaging 9.3 rebounds per game.

The Knights are averaging 88 points a game and are allowing 66.8 points per game.

The North Platte Community College Lady Knights will host the Colby Community College Lady Trojans on Saturday at 5 pm at the McDonald-Belton Gymnasium.

The Lady Knights are 3-2 on the season are led in scoring by sophomore Sarah Mahr from Sidney with a 15.6 points per game average. Mahr also averages 3.8 rebounds and two assists per game. Continue reading “NPCC Lady Knights to Host Colby”

The North Platte Community College defeated the York College Junior Varsity 68-50 on Monday Night.

The North Platte Community College Knights opened the home portion of their schedule with an 81-66 win over Fort Carson Army Base on Saturday afternoon at the McDonald-Belton Gymnasium.

The game was tied at eight when the Knights went on a 7-0 run with baskets by Diontae Champion, Tim Wagner and a 3-pointer by Victor Lewis to make the score 15-8.  The Knights extended their lead to 37-27 with just under three minutes to play for their largest lead of the half.  Champion scored 17 of his game high 29 points in the first half to give the Knights a 40-34 lead at halftime. The North Platte Community College Lady Knights basketball team defeated the Iowa Lakes College Lakers 86-79 at the Hawks Classic on Saturday.

“The game went back and forth and we came back in the fourth quarter to get the win.” said Richard Thurin, head coach of the Lady Knights.

The North Platte Community College Lady Knights Basketball team were defeated 81-56 by the Des Moines Area Community College Lady Bears on the first day of the Hawks Classic on Friday.
