Green Transfers From NU

The Nebraska football team is now down to two scholarship quarterbacks after the departure of Cody Green from the program over the weekend. Green announced his intent to transfer on Friday, ending his Husker career after two seasons spent mostly as a backup to Zac Lee and Taylor Martinez. The junior will have two years of eligibility wherever he chooses to continue his college career. Green started four games in his two seasons, including two as a true freshman in 2009. He completed 66 of his 122 passes for 657 yards and threw five touchdowns along with three interceptions in 17 appearances. He also rushed 68 times for 254 yards. With Green’s transfer, Martinez and Brion Carnes are the lone scholarship quarterbacks remaining on the Husker roster, pending Bubba Starling’s potential arrival. Green is the second QB to leave the Huskers this summer, with Kody Spano ending his football career due to injuries.
