Jays Head to Corvallis For NCAA Regionals

The Creighton baseball team is the second seed in the Corvallis regional at the NCAA tournament this coming weekend. The Blue Jays qualified for the 64-team field as the Missouri Valley Conference champions. It’s their first NCAA tournament appearance since 2007 and their third under coach Ed Servais in his eight seasons. The Jays will take on Georgia in the first game at the Corvallis regional, with host Oregon State paired up with Arkansas-Little Rock in the other matchup. Creighton finished the 2011 season with a 44-14 record and an RPI that ranked 29th in the nation. Their first round opponent, Georgia, posted a 31-30 record but had an RPI that ranked 16th. The Jays open NCAA tourney play at 3 PM on Friday. If they win the regional they would be paired with the winner of the Nashville regional in a best of three superregional for the right to go to the College World Series.
