First Nationals Seniors Split, Juniors Sweep vs Twin Cities

The North Platte First Nationals Seniors suffered their first loss of the season in a doubleheader against Twin Cities in Scottsbluff yesterday. An 8-6 win in the opening game was followed by a 4-3 loss in the nightcap. Zack Ostergard’s homer backed winning pitcher Kade Folchert in the first game. Joe Smidt played longball in game two, but it wasn’t enough. The First Nationals Seniors drop to 8-1. At Bill Wood Field in North Platte, the First Nationals Juniors swept the Twin Cities Juniors in a doubleheader. Jack Kenny threw shutout ball, allowing just four hits, in an 8-0 victory in the first game. The juniors won the second game 11-4, with Drew Callahan throwing six strong innings and Luke Volz driving in a pair of runs. The Juniors are 6-3 on the season. Both teams are back in action today, as the Seniors host Omaha Roncalli in a doubleheader while the Juniors make the trek to Omaha.
