Marion Christmas, Broncos! Bear’s Gaffes Lead To Another OT Win

The Denver Broncos run of improbable good fortune continues. The Broncos scored 10 points in the final 2:08 seconds of regulation to tie, and a Matt Prater 52 yard field goal in overtime gave the Broncos a 13-10 victory over the Chicago Bears in Denver yesterday afternoon. After Denver failed to recover an onside kick, their defense held the Bears and got the ball back with 56 seconds to play, thanks in part to Bears running back Marion Barber, who ran out of bounds on one play to stop the clock. As time expired in regulation, Prater buried a 59 yard field goal, a new career long for him, to send the game to OT. In the extra session, Barber goofed again, fumbling the ball away and setting up Prater’s heroics. It’s Denver’s third overtime victory this season, and it gives them seven wins in their last eight games. With Oakland’s loss in Green Bay, the 8-5 Broncos now have a virtual two-game lead in the AFC West race. The Broncos welcome the New England Patriots to Denver next Sunday.
