OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — A hospital says an 18-year-old girl who was critically injured after a car crash in eastern Nebraska has died.
Alegent Creighton Health says Hope Walker died Tuesday at Alegent Creighton University Medical Center. Officials say she had been placed in a medically induced coma after her truck rolled over in a crash near West Point on Dec. 23.
Hope was ejected through the windshield. She was taken to the medical center and underwent brain surgery.
Hope’s family says the girl was an organ donor. A fund has been set up at Wells Fargo Bank to help the girl’s family, whose home was destroyed by a fire on Christmas Eve. Hope’s father also lost his job days before the crash.
