PETERSBURG, Neb. (AP) — More than a dozen counts of livestock neglect have been filed against the owner of a Boone County property from which several malnourished horses were removed last month.

Two felony and 11 misdemeanor counts have been filed against 66-year-old James Majerus. A phone listed for him is no longer in service. His attorney from a previous livestock neglect case didn’t immediately return a call Thursday from The Associated Press.

Majerus pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor count of livestock abandonment or cruel neglect and was sentenced in August to probation for two years and three separate 30-jail sentences.

Majerus’ first court appearance on the new charges is scheduled for Jan. 15.
