Colorado-Avalanche-LogoDENVER (AP) — Alex Tanguay and Ryan O’Reilly scored 1:47 apart in the second period, Semyon Varlamov stopped 29 shots and the Colorado Avalanche held off the Calgary Flames 3-2 on Saturday night.

John Mitchell added another goal for the Avalanche, who went 2-1 on a three-game homestand to remain in the playoff chase. They have a few days off before embarking on a five-game trip.

Varlamov remains unbeaten in his last five starts. He made a crucial stop in the waning seconds to secure the win for Colorado.
